March 5, 201214 yr I wish he would change his last name to "Cruz". That would sound much cooler...Giancarlo Cruz, with his frame and a "Miami sounding name", it would be perfect for him.
March 5, 201214 yr Mike Stanton GC - Mike GC - Stanton Carlo Mike Mike Cruz Carlo Cruz MS - Carlo MS - Cruz Which is the best combo?

March 5, 201214 yr Just a comment, why do people, when they mean to say they do not care what someone thinks, instead say they "can care less.." or I could care less". That means they care somewhat. OK, back to my hole It's just a long time saying that people say when they don't care at all. You are reading too much into it.

OK, back to my hole It's just a long time saying that people say when they don't care at all. You are reading too much into it. Well, no, "anotherrealfan" is exactly right, and he's not reading anything into it, he's reading it as written. And, no, it's not "a long time saying," it's nothing but jumbled intellectual laziness. In fact, "I couldn't care less" (the correct expression) is the precise and total opposite of "I could care less." Semi-literate morons often say things like "the proof is in the pudding" when, if they had a clue, would have said "the proof of the pudding is in the eating." You know, a real "saying" (a truism, actually) which dates from the early 1600's. Not complicated. A claim can be validated by reality. There's nothing in anyones pudding other than pudding. And maybe a little ignorance. The bowdlerization of the language is ongoing, nothing will stop it. But that won't stop me from pointing it out every once in a while.
March 5, 201214 yr Author Just get the pronunciation right. It's more like Zshoncarlo Stanton. Us whites will say it however we want.

March 5, 201214 yr Douche caliing the kettle black? Yes, you're so active that you must know that everyone thinks I'm a douche. Therefore, my words are hypocritical to call you a douche. Or you just absolutely aren't active at all and lack the ability to sense sarcasm and you have no idea what you're talking about. Are you calling me inactive? There are laws against that kind of thing! Dont be a tuchus. "Differently" active.
March 5, 201214 yr According to ESPN, Stanton had the longest HR's last year at Citi Field, Nationals Park, Coors Field & Sun Life Stadium (the one at Sun Life is estimated to be the second longest in its history). I don't think it'll take very long for "Giancarlo" to become a "household name."

I don't think it'll take very long for "Giancarlo" to become a "household name." After watching the first game at the ballpark last night, I have a feeling we're going to see quite a few Stanton shots not only reaching the left field concourse, but leaving the ballpark entirely (if the glass doors are open). It should be a common sight.

There won't be a ton of games with the roof open but during those games you should see more HR's than usual.

Yes, but even if the roof is closed they may have those glass doors open for the downtown view. Hanley's shot last night was evidence that there should definitely be some HR's to right field that very well could have been easy outs in Dolphins Stadium...

Yeah, I saw the way he hit that ball & couldn't believe it ended up being a HR. Wasn't able to see where the ball landed exactly though due to the shaky video. Anyway, in comparison to the old ballpark the fences in LF & CF are further back so I expect there to be a lot more doubles/triples-but I'm not so sure there will be more HR's. By the way, wouldn't it be a huge waste of money in terms of air conditioning to have those huge glass windows open all the time?

Hanley's ball was hit between rows 1-3, barely got out of the ballpark. I was in section 8 row 4, really great seats, and saw pretty much everything. He definitely didn't get all of that ball, actually I think he missed a little but it still got out. There were definitely some balls that died in the gaps, John Buck specifically hit one in the RF alley that made me feel like I was back in Dolphins Stadium, but down the lines (specifically RF) there will be some extra shots that get out. LoMo could hit 30+ this year without a doubt in my mind.
