floridafly
Wes Helms is currently working out and waiting for an opportunity with the right team, reports MLBTR's Tim Dierkes (on Twitter). The 35-year-old hit .191/.276/.236 with the Marlins last season before being released in August. Any guess on who signs him? My guess is the Nippon Ham Fighters. cdy_0513
How pissed would you be if the Marlins gave him a broadcasting role?
Dr Beinfest
That'd definitely piss me off more than if the Marlins gave him a contract. For damn sure.

Admin
His career is almost certainly over, but you can't blame him for trying hard to hook up with another team. Who wouldn't want to be paid $600k/year to strike out twice a week?
Admin
Oh, and in case anyone cares...last I heard, Reggie Abercrombie is a star in the independent league.
Michael
Oh, and in case anyone cares...last I heard, Reggie Abercrombie is a star in the independent league. Can't draw a walk to save his life, though. Last season, 94 Ks to 13 walks. 2 years before, 159 Ks to 29 walks ...

Dr Beinfest
I only have one uncle. Uncle Buck. Who sucks almost as bad as Helms. Err... not quite. John Buck is a catcher. As a residual for his position, he's not that much of a detriment to our lineup. Furthermore, it sounds to me as though John Buck is a preferred catcher to work with pitchers. That'd be an interesting statistic to see though. Pitching splits for pitching to John Buck vs. pitching to Brett Hayes or pitching to John Buck vs. pitching to other pitcher (for non Marlin pitchers).
