4/7 Post Game: Cishek blows

Featured Replies

With today's loss we are currently the team with the worst record.

Samson said we would be better, and he and Loria are geniuses, so what do we know.

Well it's just a poorly constructed team.

But as long as we win 70.....

They aren't winning 70Have we made a prediction thread? I say 49.

We should play a game. Guess win/loss and Games behind- whoever is closest wins something. At least we'll have some fun here while losing.

Like I said, 49Wins with 41GB

Beginning to look like we won't be getting a good prospect for Chisek.

This=Game 6

Season=162 Games

We will win more games, but this team will be abysmal. You can already see it even though we've only played 6 games. The fundamentals are broken.

This is something we knew before the season started. Freaking out now is worthless.

Fernandez was awesome. That's good. Probably a more important fact than we lost a game in early April against the Mets.

They'll win more than that. 49 is historically bad. The Marlins are not historically bad, and I'm a huge pessimist when it comes to this season. I think they win 65-68 games.

So if they win 67 and end up in last place what will be the mantra from the front office ?

Juan Pierre f***ing sucks.

He had no business being in the game in the 9th. You cant have a defensive liability in the game when its close like this.

Is the Marlins closer role cursed? First Heath Bell, now this?

Well the Marlins are cursed but it's at a higher position than that.....

We need a run producer on this team. Even a young Miggy was a wayyyyyyyyyyyy better run producer than Stanton, and wayyy more clutch. Stanton will struggle to RBI 100, even in his prime.

This is the stupidest thing I've EVER seen written on this forum, and I've seen very, very stupid things written.

How is that stupid? Stanton is nowhere in the same realm as Miggy was. Did you even watch Miggy play?

ugh...I'm not in the business of comparing players who aren't comparable (MCabs and Stanton are two different kinds of hitters). I called the post stupid because he suggested Stanton is "clutch", isn't a run producer and will never be a 100 RBI guy (which is a dumb stat to even bring up) in his prime.

Let's ignore for a second that he's 23 years old, which is the age that most players are first coming up to the majors if they're good. But he's one of the top 20 hitters in all of baseball...at 23 years old. This post has stupid written all over.

And I feel stupid for even responding to such stupid stupidness.

Hey, if we are going to lose, we might as well break records. Let's break the all time worst record. All we need to do is finish with a win percentage lower than .130.

Yeah... 20 wins is way too low- but what the hell, could happen.

Well, if we can limit ourselves to 39 or less, we can at least claim to be the worst team in the past 50 years.

By the way, people are going to flame me for this, but Stanton has checked out. He looks like he doesn't care out there.

He was extremely upset after the fire sale. I don't blame him if he did check out.

This team as constructed will easily lose 100 without breaking a sweat. The more challenging question is whether 55 wins is even doable.

A team that has no clue how to bring in runners in scoring position, is always good for a bonehead play or two per game, like most losing teams has the stench of suffering bad luck at the worst possible time, and can't rely on a bullpen to hold on to winnable games is going to make for a long long season. This kind of baseball is just unwatchable.

Jose was great though.

What did he say that wasn't valid though? You're jumping to assumptions. With Stantons high K rate and how awful this team is at scoring runs and hitting with RISP (part of it is attributed to Stanton too), he probably will never get 100 RBI. Cabrera rarely struck out and is one of the most clutch hitters in baseball even when he came into the league with RISP.

At what point can Selig remove the team from Loria because of how bad it is for baseball? Or is that not even possible?

It's not Stanton's fault when he has no one else threatening around him. Why pitch to Stanton if you can just walk him and pitch to Dobbs or another equally terrible player?

The other owners don't really care, and that's all that matters. Selig will never do anything against the wishes of the other 29 owners.

Not even if the avg attendance is

No. That's the way it's been during Selig's tenure. He's never blocked a trade, and he's never forced anyone out. Remember that he facilitated Loria getting the Marlins in the first place, and he's not going to want to look like he made a mistake by moving to force him out.

He still hasn't done anything to move the whole Oakland situation forward. They've been spinning their wheels for something like 7-8 years now on a possible move to San Jose, which is being blocked by SF.

It's hard to believe, but not long ago the Marlins were Mets killers and Nats killers. We used to destroy them almost every time we played them.

Oh how times change.
