4/7 Post Game: Cishek blows

No. That's the way it's been during Selig's tenure. He's never blocked a trade, and he's never forced anyone out. Remember that he facilitated Loria getting the Marlins in the first place, and he's not going to want to look like he made a mistake by moving to force him out.

He still hasn't done anything to move the whole Oakland situation forward. They've been spinning their wheels for something like 7-8 years now on a possible move to San Jose, which is being blocked by SF.

I'd like to see Oakland relocate to Salt Lake or Oklahoma City. They have large AAA stadiums that would be easily renovated to accommodate MLB(and in the case of the stadium in Salt Lake, one of the most beautiful outfield views in baseball).

Selig never forced anyone out. Frank McCourt just up and died.

And the A's stadium situation is tricky. They want to move into Giants territory. Selig is trying to facilitate it but if the Giants don't want to give up San Jose that is their right.

The A's have moved from Philadelphia and Kansas City before. They can move again. OKC might be the best Big Small Market for them, but I'd like a third team in New York/NJ.

Austin/San antonio might get Oakland if it does move. there is enough population, it gives more games in the central time zone, and its a growing area.

A third team in Texas? As big of a market as it may be, I don't think Texas can support three teams.

If like to see a return of Willy, Mickey and the Duke in NY. The giants and dodgers should have never been allowed to leave.

They will want more seats in that ballpark, especially in the outfield.

What is the seating numbers like there?

I would be hesitant to use that park, otherwise it would be another mount Davis situation that Oakland already has.

That is an awesome view.

Really enjoyed watching Jose Fernandez pitch, I've been looking forward to it all week. It was a surprise at the time, but I've chosen to just focus on having some enjoyment while watching him.

It was a very disappointing result in the end. Not surprising considering other factors, but it would've been nice for his debut to be a win.

Each ball club is its own separately run business. Selig has no power to tell anyone how to run their ball club any more than some random government agency does. Even if the owners did not genuinely like Loria, there's no way they are going to give the commissioner that kind of power.

I don't think that is the case, the marlins being bad effects everyone else's business. If a team is consistently bad, it hurts the ticket sales of every team who plays them. you have to think half the games are on the road, so one bad team could hurt everyone else's bottom line. I'm not saying we have hit that point yet, but I do feel if our payroll drops below a certain margin I do feel someone is going to have to step in.

I seriously doubt other baseball teams are all that concerned about the Marlins.

Article VIII Section 4 of the MLB Constitution.

Discussed here: http://forums.marlinsbaseball.com/topic/98048-could-selig-force-loria-out/

That last ball is probably a double play in a normal situation, but noodle-arm Juan Pierre gave the Mets an extra base forcing the team to play the infield in.

Pretty much. I can't wait until Yelich is ready.

Sucks to see Fernandez's day ruined. He was great. Not surprised to come home from work, watch the highlights, and see what happened after I left in the 6th with us up. Honestly, I would have been a lot more surprised with a win. Sad.

Juan Pierre needs to be replaced defensively in the 9th from now on if we have a lead. His arm is such a liability and teams have no problem taking extra bases when the ball is hit his way.

The McCourt sale was due to the divorce with his wife, primarily. A judge agreed with her belief that she had an ownership stake in the team, and in order for him to pay that money he had to liquidate his biggest asset (the Dodgers). Sadly, McCourt actually comes out ahead in the whole mess, due to the massive sale price of the Dodgers, even after he gave his wife a bunch of cash. Selig never forced a sale, just like he's been extremely lenient in regards to all of those loans he has made through MLB to Fred Wilpon to keep him owning the Mets. It's not surprising to know that Selig was responsible for McCourt owning the Dodgers in the first place, as well.

Yeah,

Selig never forced anyone out. Frank McCourt just up and died.

This team entered the season without a winning mindset, and when you are a bad organization, even the best players on your team are going to find a way to turn wins into defeats.

Hate to break it to you, but his bat is a liability as well. We don't need a career .363 SLG at the corner outfield (esp. with such powerless corner infielders).

I hate these sports cliches that have absolutely no meaning, yet get repeated over and over like they are meaningful in the slightest.

It's just a bad team guys. They could want it more than anyone and still lose 100 games. What matters is their actual ability, which is low.
