4/7 Post Game: Cishek blows

We need a run producer on this team. Even a young Miggy was a wayyyyyyyyyyyy better run producer than Stanton, and wayyy more clutch. Stanton will struggle to RBI 100, even in his prime.

This is the stupidest thing I've EVER seen written on this forum, and I've seen very, very stupid things written.

Totally agree with dim. Stanton is just pressing right now. It's a mental thing for him. He will come around. However, we will need another run producer besides Stanton in the lineup. That part was the only acurate part of that statement.

Hey, if we are going to lose, we might as well break records. Let's break the all time worst record. All we need to do is finish with a win percentage lower than .130.

I understand being frustrated with this Organization but the Team has nothing to do with it. You're at the point where you are cheering for this Team to be historically bad just to spite this Organization. It's not the players fault.

So if they win 67 and end up in last place what will be the mantra from the front office ?

More bang for the buck?

Using Cot's 2012 payroll number of 101,628,000, wins cost 1.473 mill each last year.

Cot's 2013 number is 57,695,000, so even 40 wins at 1.442 mill each would qualify as "more bang for the buck."

Success!

Now all they have to do is improve on the current win-pace of 27 by about 50%.

:lol

It's not Stanton's fault when he has no one else threatening around him. Why pitch to Stanton if you can just walk him and pitch to Dobbs or another equally terrible player?

Pretty funny. I guess "equally terrible player" means guys that aren't going to hit 500' bombs. Because you suck if you can't do that. I do agree that we don't have good enough protection around him (ground breaking news), but.........

They are pitching to him. First pitch fastball, then pitching him in. He's just not doing very well. Even the other day when he got two hits, they were bullcrap hits. Broken bat dribbler, and a broken bat blooper. He's not adjusting to how they are pitching him. Swing away on the first pitch, then shorten that swing and go for the hit after that. The dingers will come. Cliché, but it really is all about adjusting to and taking what they are giving you.

In his "defense", he pretty much sucked last April, too. Maybe bad Aprils are just what we can expect from him.

This is where I am. I root for the team, and will always root for the team, despite the front office.

Does that mean I will spend money on them, probably not unless there is new ownership.

That seems to be happening for the Mets this year :laughpurple

Fair enough. However, in my opinion, being historically bad is the only way that there might be some glimmer of hope at some changes within the organization- and if that is the case, ill take it.

If this team gets more wins than last years, it would be a shame. Not because I want them to fail, but because it will set this franchise back god knows how many years. Idk... maybe I'm just totally wrong.

That being said, they go on a 5 game winning streak and I'm back on the bandwagon.

Fernandez was great.

Is it just me or do you guys notice. Trend of blowing saves on Sunday games?

I can remember this going in for at least 4 years.

It's different players same marlins. Score some runs early then miss huge opportunities and lose at the end.

Btw, the at bats by Fernandez were unacceptable. He needs some work on that.

He dropped down a perfect sacrifice despite never hitting in pro ball. I think he's doing fine considering that. He will work on it and will improve anyway.

yeah, the last thing I'd worry about is how a very young pitcher does with a bat in his hand in his first go around looking at a major league pitcher

it would have been nice for him to get the bunt down in the 2nd - it would also have been nice if JP didn't strike out on 4 pitches right after him

his next time up in the 4th he put the bunt down on the first pitch just the way it should be

then he struck out on 3 pitches - there were two outs though and most pitches aren't going to have favorable outcomes in that scenario ..... if it was an inning later they probably PH for him in that scenario

so overall you'd like to see him be consistent with the sacrifice, but he still executed 1 out of 2 ........ he also looked really good on the mound, which is by far the most important thing

I was watching the Mets broadcast and they were all over the infield in ......... basically as soon as everyone moved up they started talking about how unconvential a move this was, that typically you would play back and concede a run if needed but you don't want to lose a game on a single and then how they really couldn't recall seeing it done before

then of course you had the game winning hit right at the tail end of that conversation

I didn't want to watch the replay to see if it would have made a difference, but it was annoying enough to have them harp on it and then see a ball sneak down the 3rd base line to end it

They will want more seats in that ballpark, especially in the outfield.

What is the seating numbers like there?

I would be hesitant to use that park, otherwise it would be another mount Davis situation that Oakland already has.

It already seats like 15,000, just like most minor league parks, even AAA ones, the seating stops at the foul poles. It could easily have the grandstand added onto(another deck) and the outfield could be renovated to something like the current Busch Stadium, where the grandstand wraps around the foul poles and from LF to RF there is a plaza made up of bleacher seats. All of that could be done to greatly increase the capacity and not mess with the backdrop at all.

Count me in on the historically bad bandwagon. For too many years this FO was rewarded by players outperforming expectations, which they simply learned the wrong lessons from. And they got praise from around the league for fielding mediocre teams even when after 2006 they were in possession of the largest horde of young talent in the league. But they had no masterplan for what to do with that talent other than to trade piecemeal whatever players had a down year.

Management is the enemy because no matter how well some of these players play, they have no ability to turn their chips into a winner. They showed absolutely no effort or plan in putting this year's team together, and they don't deserve that which they neglected to bear fruit. Their historically bad management deserves to be met with historically bad results.
