April 13, 201313 yr There's a CBS sports article that really puts it pretty well about how the Marlins being completely terrible is for the best. I know some here still aren't on the epic futility bandwagon, this article summarizes why. I'm not cool enough to post passages so here's the link: http://www.cbssports.com/mlb/story/22056835/only-epic-futility-can-save-marlins-from-their-owner
April 13, 201313 yr I'm already in the historically bad bandwagon 10 games in. Don't think we'll win 50 games. Losing wont get rid of Loria At least it puts some kind of pressure on the FO. The worse case is being mediocre- then nobody is going to care.
April 13, 201313 yr I can't even think of anything positive to about the team this year. I can't take them seriously. It's all a bad joke.
April 13, 201313 yr Some years, businesses lose money. That's recoverable. If a business consistently loses money, a smart businessman knows to get out of that business. It will take a few years of this to make him sell. It will the take a few years to get competitive again, once we have competant management. I say we're looking at 5-7 years of shittiness...
April 13, 201313 yr Losing wont get rid of Loria Agreed, he still makes money even if they lose 162 games.
April 13, 201313 yr Losing wont get rid of Loria Agreed, he still makes money even if they lose 162 games. That and everything Ive heard/read about Loria is he loves owning a ML baseball team.
April 13, 201313 yr The Sports Illustrated article about him recently backs that up. It's going to be very very hard to pry him out of owning this team.
April 13, 201313 yr Didn't read the article, but is there anyway for Selig to force him out ala McCourt?
April 13, 201313 yr I agree with this article 100%. This has been my approach this year, I hope they keep losing and I hope fans don't come out to the games. It's so hard to like this team and hate the owner at the same time. For those saying Loria won't sell, I agree, but the hope is that Selig will force him out. WIth this brand new stadium and fans not showing up it looks very bad for MLB. This guy has done far worse things and has tranished MLB much worse than McCourt. Obviously Selig and Loria are buddies, but at some point Selig HAS to pull the plug. This whole thing is a PR nightmare. The only way to get the Marlins back is to get rid of Loria. Can't stand that fat piece of shit
April 13, 201313 yr If only we could get rid of Loria, this franchise could be a consistent contender. What player wouldnt want to play in the lovely ballpark and live in Miami with no fear of the team getting blown apart on an annual basis?!
April 13, 201313 yr I don't know about this but I'll settle for some form of stability. Just a little bit of vision. And a completely new direction.
