Chris Hatcher

Featured Replies

Looking at some minor league #'s, I noticed that Chris Hatcher is pitching well again this year.

At what point, if ever, is this guy going to figure it out in the big leagues? His career minor league #'s are borderline dominant. The past couple of years, he's been doing it in the PCL which has a history of being unfriendly to pitchers.

I feel like he has to figure it out sooner or later.

Relievers develop late sometimes, and he's more inexperienced than most due to starting out as a catcher. I hope he pitches better this year when he's called up/once the team gets rid of guys like Rauch and Qualls.

he has good stuff but he just gets rocked in the majors.

kind of like brett carroll. crushed AAA and just couldnt do it up here. Now hes 30 and not even doing that well.

or chris aguila.

He's not 30; he's 28.

Why is he not doing that well? He's the closer in New Orleans and his #'s look pretty good to me.

If a guy like Jason Grilli can figure out how to be a dominant reliever, anything can happen. You never know in baseball, especially with relievers. He's already been blessed with a key ingredient in his arsenal - a mid-90's fastball.

I feel like he can turn it around. There's no reason for him to be absolute garbage every time he's called up. Brett Carroll and Chris Aguila were likely products of the PCL; as I stated in the OP, it inflates hitters' #'s. Hatcher has been dominating in that same league as a pitcher for the past two seasons.

Seems like every time I've seen him his fastball was fine but secondary pitches weren't up to par. Good enough for minors sometimes but major league hitters were just sitting on that fastball with no movement and hammering it. Maybe he's figured out the breaking stuff a little more, he was a late convert to pitching so wouldn't be a stretch.
