Kevin Gregg returns

Featured Replies

he had a mid 3s ERA last year. it's honestly an improvement. him and Morris aren't great, but they're better than what's there now

MLBTR says he'll be up in the bigs in 8-9 days btw

Gregg's one of those players where I'm just not gonna look at that ERA. He posted 1.6+ WHIP's in 2011 and 2012 and a 1.3+ WHIP last year, which means he allowed A LOT of base runners. He's been despised by every fan base that has ever had the misfortune to have to watch him pitch.

I have no problem with the Marlins doing the "throw sh*t at the wall and see what sticks" routine, but I do have a problem with them taking sh*t they've already thrown at the wall, seen it fail in unbelievably spectacular ways, and say "hey, that sh*t probably doesn't stink anymore, right?"

The fact that the team's already gone through Marmol, Rodriguez, Morris, and now Gregg shows this team has absolutely no concept in regards to what it takes to find a GOOD reliever. This team deserves every blown game it gets with the terrible approach it has taken to trying to find relievers.

Speaking of relievers who could swing the bat, what's Guillermo Mota up to these days?

retired....but doesn't it seem just like yesterday he was pitching for us, I mean where did the time go? He cant be that old already?

In all seriousness though, his fastball in 2013 was more than a full mph slower than his career average. As someone said earlier, there are plenty of teams with bullpen issues this year, the fact that he was still around and willing to pitch in the minors should give an idea of how little interest he'd received.

I wouldn't mind the signing with a normal front office. With the guys we have in charge, he could give up more runs than he gets outs in the minors and he'll still get called up and take up some room.

Meanwhile Webb and Qualls continue to be succesful. This FO is a bunch of fucking nitwits.

I think that the funniest thing about this is that it was actually hyped up before it happened. All we need now is for Kevin Gregg to have his own show about taking his talents to South Beach so we know it's real.

"Guys, Randy Wolf is a Marlin."

"That's not that bad, I mean, what is he? A mop-up guy?"

"Nope, he's in the rotation."

"Guys, Kevin Gregg is a Marlin."

"Well, he was a few years ago, not anymore."

"Nope, just signed him. In 2014."

"Guys, we traded a top-40 draft pick."

"I didn't even know you could do that in baseball. Must have gotten someone pretty good!"

"It's Bryan Morris."

"Guys, Derek Dietrich has been benched."

"That's good, he's been terrible on defense lately."

"Adeiny Hechavarria is still in the lineup."

"Oh, also...Rafael Furcal and Miguel Tejada are Marlins too."

7 years ago, Gregg touted himself to whoever the pitching coach was at the time with something along the lines of "Saving games? I can do that." And so he did. 32 saves. 4 blown. '07 was actually his best year, such as it was. Blew 9 saves in '08. Bye, bye. All downhill since.

If all they can scare up is Morris and Gregg -- 7 years past his prime, forget it.
