canada-marlin24
He is obviously not likely to be re-signed by the Nationals. Anyone interested? Would be a nice upgrade both offensively and defensively. Unless the Marlins sign Tomas and move him to first lol.
Michael
I'd be for it, yeah. Especially on the defensive side of things. Problem is, how much does he want and for how long?
Admin
10/200 and pray he accepts

Michael
LaRoche? Really? Worse than Jones?
Admin
I like LaRoche in all honesty, I hope we go for him
fanofthefish
The Marlins drafted him twice, in the 18th round in 1998 and the 42nd in 1999, the first time he was drafted was the highest he was ever selected

Michael
How the hell ...? Wow. OK. Derrek Lee like, I take it? If it's hit into his range area, he'll get it and he can pick em but outside of that, meh?

If it's hit into his range area, he'll get it and he can pick em but outside of that, meh? I'm guessing that's right. I haven't seen much of LaRoche and I look away when the ball goes to Jones, so... But really, the whole "picking it" debate plays more into the thrower's defensive stats. If a routine ground ball to the shortstop isn't an easy 6-3 out, it's likely not the first baseman's fault, no matter how bad he is. See what I did there, guys? I blamed Garrett Jones' awful defense on Adeiny Hechavarria. Yup. I've still got it. B)
canada-marlin24
Uhhhh, Adam LaRoche a bad defensive first basemen? Hasn't he always been lauded for his defense?

pollythewog
So has Derek Jeter. Jeter actually had some okay years defensively. LaRoche has been putrid his whole career.

True, but many people see YEAHJEETZ as the best defensive living organism of all time.
Piazza31
True, but many people see YEAHJEETZ as the best defensive living organism of all time. He is...and he's the best walking orgasm of all time for many women in NY as well. Imagine how many baseballs he's given out.
dim
I'd pass on LaRoche given his age, but knowing the Marlins and their love for random 35 year old veterans I have no doubt we'll overpay for him to start at 1B for us next season only for him to get hurt the first week of the year. fish14
would love him for 2 years 15 million. also sign sandoval and trade Jones to see if someone can take on his salary. Leave Dietrich/Hernandez at 2b. Yelich Dietrich/Hernandez Stanton Laroche Sandoval Ozuna Salty/Realmuto Hech Then leave the rotation to the young guys, please don't sign anyone. Alvarez Cosart Koehler Heaney Eovaldi until Jose comes back. Thats a great team to me. Edit- It would also be a lot easier to find an upgrade if we move Stanton or Yelich to 1b. Would love that move followed by signing an outfielder. Would be much easier to find an upgrade.
