Seriously though, guns 101, rule 1: always check the gun. Even when you know it's empty, double check. Then check a third time just in case you're blind. Now you're clear to handle the firearm any way you'd like. It's the first thing you're taught when handling a weapon. If you weren't taught, you probably shouldn't have one. You especially shouldn't be cleaning one. This reminds me, I need to clean my guns...
