Mark Canha is starting at first base for the A's tonight. I'm not a huge "oh my gourd I can't believable we let him go" guy, but wouldn't he deserve a 40-man spot over nothings like Solano and Rienzo?

​I'll give you baserunning, but he's a good hitter with a great eye, an average fielder, and pretty quick on the bases. Good baserunning can be taught. Those characteristics, aside from the bad baserunning decisions, render him a great utility guy. I won't touch Hechavarria, because I think he's one of the best shortstops in this particular universe. Furthermore, Salty sucks (hopefully that changes).
