5/9 Marlins @ Giants 9:05 PM

If he can give up 3 or less over six innings or so, I'm happy.

Hell yeah, I'll take a quality start from any pitcher, any day.

Carlos Rodon with a nice start today.  Why didn't we draft him again?  SMH

Because someone in the scouting department likes high school boys....

I'd put Cosart at #3, Phelps at #4, and Latos at #5.  That's quite a rotation.

I'd swap Cosart and Phelps. Cosart has too many "big inning" tendencies to truly be a #3. There isn't a lot of upside amongst those three, but there are plenty of solid innings to be thrown, which is what you want from the back of a rotation.

And you take Haren out...why?  (I'm assuming your saying after both Jose and HA come back?)

Maybe Haren gets traded? *shrug* If he stays strong and a West Coast team shows interest, I say go for it, see if we can sell high.

Curious why JT is so high up in the order still. Hmmm

He seems to have a lot of quality at bats but the results aren't there yet.  They'll come.  He's hit some hard shots that have been caught also.

Cosart had #2 stuff last year, though it was a small sample size.  Phelps seems to be on a hot streak.  Even Brad Hand looked like a great starter in some games last year.

Cosart has stretches when he looks awesome, but his lack of strikeouts (5.5 strikeouts per 9 over his career) limits him to sticking as a #3 or 4 at best. You want your #2 guy to be one that can get out of innings by striking people out. Also, a true #2 starter isn't necessarily a team's #2 starter. The Phillies have an ace in Cole Hamels, then a bunch of #5s. Jose is our only true ace, and Hendo is a very solid #3. We don't really have a #2 starter.

Can't do that with both Jose and Hendo being so fragile.  Especially with Hendo who seems to go on the DL every year.

Uggghhhh...I hated balls like that when I played SS, they'r terrifying. That needs to be a base hit for Duffy.

They don't hit them that hard in little league.

Good point...though I wonder what we would be trying to get in return? I'm actually quite happy with our offense right now (outside Stanton and Morse, both of which I feel will get better) and trading a starter for a starter is...well I dunno.  Only thing I can think of improving is our bullpen, though not sure how I would feel about giving up a solid starter for a reliever.

Seeing marlins man do his schtick really pisses me off. Watch the damn game at least.

Alright, why is Morris throwing this many pitches?

He really shouldn't be pitching more than one inning anyway.

I think Hendo proved to be a solid #2 last year.  Better than most teams'.  I would take Henderson Alvarez over Cole Hamels.

HA has pitched at at least a #2 level for at least a full year now.  He's been very good, don't know where this "we don't have a #2 pitcher" nonsense is coming from.
