May 13, 201511 yr The article pretty much says we make the most sense for Papelbon. I don't think the Phillies even trade with us and frankly I don't see the Marlins even going after him.
May 13, 201511 yr It's also a Philadelphia article so its more their guess on where he could go but means nothing from our side of the table.
May 13, 201511 yr They don't need relievers. Koehler is going to be pushed to the pen likely when Alvarez is back in a week. Ramos, Dunn, Hand, and Dyson are fine. Let Morris and Cishek work things out in low leverage situations for a few weeks. Morris has a ludicrous BABIP. He'll work himself out. Cishek is more of an issue with the velocity drop and a weird sample size control issue, but he likely just needs to get his head straight. Maybe he isn't the same guy as last year, but he can adapt into a role if he doesn't reclaim the closer spot eventually. Not to mention, they have each earned the opportunity to fix themselves given past performance. Plus, they are the best options versus trading assets and taking on money for someone like Papelbon. That would be stupid in mid-may after 10 innings. This is disappointing in the same way that they started 3-11, and then got to .500. It's baseball. It's going to average out over the season and they are on a brutal road trip. The run differential is neutral, and they have vastly underachieved with getting nothing from Yelich, 1B, and C (although Gordon and Hech are balancing that out on offense to an extent) and not having their 2 best SP.
May 14, 201511 yr Need to edit it to where right after he finishes his lengthy, eloquent sentence here, the word "Papelbon" pops up for a brief moment.
