Zack Greinke To Opt Out Of LA

Featured Replies

This is why it sucks rooting for a Loria owned team.  Need him.  Will never get him if LA fails to resign him.

Zack Greinke will opt out of his contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers and test free agency, according to a report by CBSSports.com.

There had been widespread speculation that Greinke would opt out of the contract despite having three years and $71 million remaining on the six-year deal he signed with the Dodgers before the 2013 season.

Citing multiple sources in its report, CBSSports.com reported that Greinke should receive multiple contract offers of at least $125 million over five years, according to one general manager.

I'd like to add him but Greinke would sign any team that pay lots money and can hit at the plate. Definitely Marlins doesn't have a chance like Pujols' decision, even they offer the most biggest contract for him.

give me price and greinke.

price in the postseason is not a good thing

Marlins planning on offering Grienke 27 aav for 5 years or something?

if not then dont even put that idea into your mind.

/truth bomb.

das Texan, did you feel that? That was a one-up quake! You made a great point

The Marlins will say they are after Greinke but they'll offer something like 3/$60 mil. Then they'll be like "look we tried!"

if any fan buys that as them trying then they are dumber than a box of rocks.

/truth bomb 2

If Loria wanted to go nuts with pitching this is a good offseason to do so.

Which is exactly why I'm surprised he isn't showing the inclination to do so. He's done it before, this offseason is a good one to go nuts.

ya it can't be us to get him.  we just need to get that new stadium for our payroll to increase so that we're not among the smallest payrolls in the league anymore....

He won't be signing guys making 25-30 million a year when nobody goes to the games. And I know the reply to that is "They'd go if he did more often" and I say "Nobody knows that, he's spent before and didn't receive a nice attendance boost" Then you say "But he gave up and traded them too fast" and I say "yes true but its unknown if they would have ever started going before September/October if contending"

Not sure which of your schizophrentic quotes I should respond to... but in general, even if we sign Greinke, Price, throw in Mike Trout for argument's sake, people would not show up to games until at least midseason when we're clearly a first place (or close) contending team, and even then more than likely attendance wouldn't boost until around September when its official that we're in the postseason picture. Miami fans just don't care until things are legit and beyond a doubt. We've had hot Mays and things of the like and I talk to casual fans and they're like "Yeah but they'll blow it soon" and yes in those occasions they have but regardless the point is the same. You can have Stanton, Jose, Trout, Kershaw, McCutchen, Greinke, and Bryce Harper and this team would still have attendance troubles in April and May.

Also, even Miami fans (the most fair weather in North America) have seen this game from Loria a few times already.

Why show up in April when they know if they aren't in first, he is going to sell 3/4 of the high priced players.

(and Grienke isnt taking a lower aav in the first year or two, like Loria likes to do so he can truly avoid paying the big bucks)

I was saving time because I've done this circle so many times, got all the back and forth replies out of the way in one post.

Well said and sadly true.

Pertaining to Miami fans and Loria... you're absolutely right. But where's all the people who could/should/would go to a great baseball game in April with a great team (or 2) for the sake of watching a fun baseball game? As in, why do people say "Oh the Marlins have won 8 of 10 but I'm not going tonight because they'll trade them away later." The logic of some people kills me. I've said this story before but when the Marlins had a good 2014 I had a coworker telling me he won't go to the games (in 2014) because they lost 100 games in 2013. Its like they just look for any ridiculous excuse...
