November 1, 201510 yr You quoted @SilverBullet1929's post where he said Loria and company had a hand in the 2003 title and you disputed it. Don't play dumb. I said Loria and Co finished their job with their short sighted approaches. Worked in 2003 after the foundation was built. Hasnt worked since due to no foundation existing.
November 1, 201510 yr I said Loria and Co finished their job with their short sighted approaches. Worked in 2003 after the foundation was built. Hasnt worked since due to no foundation existing. Your post had nothing to do with the Pudge or JP acquisitions which were key. I guess you were referring to the Urbina trade which was important also but not as important as those.
November 1, 201510 yr Your post had nothing to do with the Pudge or JP acquisitions which were key. I guess you were referring to the Urbina trade which was important also but not as important as those. does that not go along with 'finishing the job'?
November 1, 201510 yr does that not go along with 'finishing the job'? What prospects did he trade for JP? You mentioned his deal is trading prospects away and wrecking the minor league system
November 1, 201510 yr What prospects did he trade for JP? You mentioned his deal is trading prospects away and wrecking the minor league system None that was them trading big money players. You know, 'the Marlins way'
November 1, 201510 yr None that was them trading big money players. You know, 'the Marlins way' Eh they took a part of hampton's deal back as part of that and ended up paying some of it while he pitched for Atlanta
November 1, 201510 yr Eh they took a part of hampton's deal back as part of that and ended up paying some of it while he pitched for Atlanta dont forget trading away charles johnson and his salary as well.
November 1, 201510 yr dont forget trading away charles johnson and his salary as well. Yeah but how much was their net gain or loss on that deal? I honestly don't recall. I think they wanted JP and I don't think it was fully money related though I could be wrong
November 1, 201510 yr Yeah but how much was their net gain or loss on that deal? I honestly don't recall. I think they wanted JP and I don't think it was fully money related though I could be wrong I mean even a blind rat does a good job every now and then! Acquiring Pierre was kinda good. How they scouted and found Willis is beyond me, again I guess blind rat. All i know is that Dombrowski built the foundation, Beinfest & Co finished the job. Then they sold again eventually and most of that didnt pan out and we all know what has happened since.
November 1, 201510 yr For what it's worth a few years ago I added up all of the WAR values for the Beinfest vs. Dombrowski acquisitions during the 2003 season. Dombrowski won out, but it was actually a bit closer than I expected it to be.
November 1, 201510 yr Ofcourse not! The Braves would gladly trade us those golden years for one of our trophies. Its what we play for. A world series championship and ring is the height of anyones career as an individual or franchise. We will be consistent again in time. We are closer than you think.
November 1, 201510 yr Idc about championships I can barely remember. Its not our fault you're a senile old fart. This is one reason why I stick with younger women (18+), better memories.
November 2, 201510 yr Author Its not our fault you're a senile old fart. This is one reason why I stick with younger women (18+), better memories. That's nice and all but don't the woman have to be real before you can stick'em
November 2, 201510 yr I say this as nice as possible.. but don't be stupid. Would never trade that amazing run for anything and I'm happy I saw every second of it. On that subject.. I would LOVE to see game 3 of the NLDS vs. the Giants again. That game was something else
November 2, 201510 yr Admin's love interests don't work summers and have their parents pick them up every weekday around 3pm They also were either in diapers or not alive when the Marlins were last in the playoffs.
November 2, 201510 yr If someone told me in 2003 that the Marlins would win it all but then follow it with a Jeffrey Loria fueled, raging dumpster fire that lasted 12+ years, I would have said "give me the Series."
November 2, 201510 yr If someone told me in 2003 that the Marlins would win it all but then follow it with a Jeffrey Loria fueled, raging dumpster fire that lasted 12+ years, I would have said "give me the Series." Burn baby burn!

This is perfect. You never know if the opportunity will ever come again so u take it at any cost.
November 2, 201510 yr I'd trade '03 for a couple of vicodin and a pack of Reds. sit back on my bandwagon and root for my new favorite team, the GiantCardinalSox
November 3, 201510 yr I say this as nice as possible.. but don't be stupid. Would never trade that amazing run for anything and I'm happy I saw every second of it. On that subject.. I would LOVE to see game 3 of the NLDS vs. the Giants again. That game was something else ETA: That's Game 4, with the Conine throw. Can't find Game 3 (if that's the one you were actually thinking of)
November 3, 201510 yr Definitely game 3.. that was amazing. Jose Cruz with the huge error to lead off the innning and then Pudge's 2 strike, 2 out, 2-run bases loaded single to come back after being down in extras... awesome
