February 24, 201610 yr http://espn.go.com/mma/story/_/id/14836636/miami-marlins-outfielder-giancarlo-stanton-experimenting-bat so the headline on there is saying that he still can't swing without pain in his hand. The article itself has Stanton saying that so far it doesn't hurt - but does that mean the new bat is alleviating some of the pain or that he's completely pain-free....not sure. Knowing that every year he seems to have something go wrong with him it wouldn't shock me at all if he's still having issues (naysayers will say they're all fluke injuries but at what point does a fluke injury seemingly almost every year start pointing towards just being injury prone?)
February 24, 201610 yr Some players with hamate bone injuries come back and are the exact same player. Others never have the same swing and dwindle into obscurity. Stanton will most likely be fine, but there is always the risk of him not having the same swing or not being able to maintain it.

February 24, 201610 yr what players have dwindled into obscurity from it? Nick Markakis lost his power, so did Dustin Pedroia. Pablo Sandoval ate his hamate bone and he hasn't been as good since then either. Other guys like Domonic Brown had huge ceilings but never came close to reaching them after hamate issues.
February 24, 201610 yr This headline is misleading, there's no pain and he's just trying new lumber in order to make sure that continues.

Other guys like Domonic Brown had huge ceilings but never came close to reaching them after hamate issues. to summarize for those that didn't read: the evidence says while there may be a short term effect, it has 0 effect long term on power. Markaksis is more an age thing it looks like
February 25, 201610 yr I think the axe bat is interesting. Can't wait to see how many dongs he smashes with that and the fences in. 100 losses though =)
February 25, 201610 yr This article has been rewritten a couple times already. Scoop wrote one and so did Clark as well. He is just trying out the Axe bats and the handles on it, but also wouldn't mind going back to the Marucci bats he uses now. Spring Training is the time to try this all out. He will be fine.
