I know he is coming cheap and people feel that is the entire (or almost entire) reason Loria wants him around, BUT Ichiro wants to come back for a third year as long as he can play. I can't believe the Marlins is the ONLY option for Ichiro. So something or someone must be doing something right at Marlins Park. Congrats to Ichiro, and many happy returns of the play. (pun intended)

I can't believe the Marlins is the ONLY option for Ichiro. So something or someone must be doing something right at Marlins Park. Congrats to Ichiro, and many happy returns of the play. (pun intended) I think, according to what Ichiro has said, it's a lot about how the organization has treated him. He's said two things that stood out to me. First when they got him before 2015 he said he felt like that old quiet puppy in the pet store that everyone overlooks for the cute over excited puppy jumping up and down at the window that everyone stops to see and pet and play with, and the Marlins were that one person who looked past the young puppy and fell in love with the older puppy so he was flattered by that. And then he's said numerous times how accommodating and gracious the team has been to him and he has felt a need to return the love. It's really been an unbelievable connection between the two and, while he is cheap, I really feel it's more than that. Ichiro is too smart to just stick around for being cheap. If he wasn't treated right here he'd be gone by now.
