May 30, 201610 yr My favorite uniforms in our history were the 2003 home alternates. Were those worn in 03? I know definitely 04-05 and they were definitely one of my favorites. Blatant Loria Yankee rip off but the strength of that logo makes that one work way better than others who have tried that style of jersey (cap logo on the left chest).
May 30, 201610 yr What is your position on the new ones? I don't mind them, and I think the road greys are sharp, but the old ones were close to perfect...until 2010. They got boring when they inexplicably got rid of the teal. Youre asking about our current uniforms right? I've learned to love our current ones the more I see them. I know they're untraditional but I like them for their uniqueness and sometimes the logos and colors really pop and they're full of more energy than some bland more traditional uniforms that people seem to love. I remember looking at pics of our 2012 spring training and the uniforms exploded energy once I saw them in action especially compared to the darkness of 2011. Compare the 2011 uniforms to 2012 and I don't know how any can like 2011 better. The current road grays I sometimes think are our best uniforms as the gray makes the colors and logos pop best. For example I think they looked gorgeous in that day game in Turner field yesterday. I really love the sharp clean look of our home whites. The red orange ones are a beautiful color. The black might be my least favorite but sometimes they just look super cool. The black might be my favorite jersey to wear out because while they might be dark and drab on TV they're quite striking on TV, I actually get complimented when I wear my black jersey, people seem to notice it more. Black is just very popular with fans. Our Florida jerseys were near perfection but they did have issues that I think people neglect. They definitely downgraded with the black heavy years from 03-11, especially the latter years when teal was all but eliminated completely. Then again, MLB got very black (African American? Lol) heavy with colors and uniforms in the late 90s and through the early 2000s and you'll be hard pressed to find nicer black heavy uniforms in that period than ours. So basically a mixed bag with everything in our uniform history. A little good a little bad but mostly positive I think.

May 30, 201610 yr Yes, I was. When I mentioned getting rid of the teal, I was talking about the last two years of the old uniforms. I like your evaluation, and I agree with just about all of it. I prefer the old font and logos better, but like I said, I do like every variation of the current uniforms. They fit the new style of the team, along with the ballpark. The late '90s had some great uniforms, though, from the Marlins' vests to the Diamondbacks' purple and aqua to the Angels' vests. And as far as the parenthetical portion goes, I wanted to stay away from that, lol. I like Vince, but adding that to his story was out of line. I've done a lot of uniform reading and conversing and it's amazing how its really just opinion. It's really about how people back up their arguments more than anything else but it's a fun topic because it's very unique and has so many opinions.

May 30, 201610 yr Me, too. There are always so many latent reasons why people like certain uniforms over others. It often has to do with personal experiences and memories, whether they pertain to the team itself, the logo, or the colors involved. Yeah personal context is so strong with uniform talk. I saw a show on MLB Network once listing worst uniforms in history and our 93 ones got in because it was too much teal and one player, someone never on the Marlins, said something like it didn't look manly and he wouldn't be caught dead in that uniform. So yeah, so much is opinion.
