Under the Radar

Featured Replies

So I was watching the ESPN broadcast of the Cubs vs Pirates game..  I think they mentioned literally every team except for the Marlins. At one point they said, "and you know it's not like the Mets, St. Luis, and the Dodgers are running away with the wild card..."  they were completely oblivious to the fact that we have the first spot..

I'm used to the Marlins never being mentioned on Sportcenter and MLB Network but to completely forget their existence.. I mean come on.

It IMO is the perfect position to be in. If we continue to lead the wild card we will get attention but I honestly like being under the radar tbh.

I mean this is mainly a rant on why our players are never on the All-Star teams.

Normally I'd agree with you but yesterday's jump in the standings kinda literally snuck up on everyone, I'd give the national media a couple days to realize what we did. But otherwise yes, they love to forget about us. All Star wise this might be a really tough year for us as fans because we probably have more legitimate all star candidates than we've had in recent memories and obviously there will be snubs so I expect a lot of us to be disappointed by some. I do like what Rich has been preaching for some time now, the higher we are in the standings the more all star recognition we should get.

After nationals lost last night, their post game announcers say "tough loss for the Nationals but they continue to remain 6 ahead of the Mets".....and we had already jumped them in the standing at that point.

ever look at the power rankings....we are like 16th and the 3rd Place Mets are like 7th

@SilverBullet1929padres won ANOTHER closing game of a series. They are on fire since they beat us on the closing game of that series

I was watching a bit of the Gator CWS game and again it was... the Nats are creating some distance between themselves and the Mets. No mention of our team being right behind the Nats. But this is ESPN we're talking about and they've been ignoring us for as long as I can remember.

Starting pitching is pretty much the only concern to be honest. Pretty big concern though.

I think if the FO can make some kind of deal to help the rotation we could be a legit threat. Bullpen has been ok and if Stanton starts catching fire this lineup is legit. We just need more reliable starting pitching.

Continued disrespect from ESPN. In their latest power rankings coming out today they are ranked last among all teams with a winning record, five spots below the Mets, four spots below the Cardinals and two behind the Dodgers. With how much derision we've gotten over the years over there, can't say its a surprise.

Ozuna has the highest stock in value that he will ever have. Add Bour and that should be enough for a top tier pitcher.  We already have Bours replacement in Nayder.  Ichiro can replace Ozuna.

Fernadez should be resigned at all costs. Ozuna is going to demand top money. We need to trade while we can.  I still think we are not a playoff team. If we move the right pieces, next year we could be a force.

Fernandez will be a tougher resign then Ozuna and reports have already come out that the FO doesn't feel good about the chances of an extension. I don't mind moving Ozuna but you had better get great value.

Unfortunately, although I love the guy, Dietrich is the prime trade bait. I think Prado will be re-signed to continue to play 3rd which doesn't bother me. I think DD can potentially bring back a 3/4 starter.

ozuna is turning into a superstar and nothing about his #s indicate it's flukey. all peripherals are trending the right way (babip maybe 20-30 pts to high but no biggie there). He should absolutely not be traded right now.

Also props to Loria for sending him down last year and getting us an extra year of arbitration for ozuna!!!

This team needs SP help real bad. And more than one SP too. I don't see how the team stays this good with their current rotation & the jose/conley innings limits.

They should just ask the dbacks if they can have greinke and pay for all his salary
