man i thought theyd love barry..

apparently wasnt the case, they aint show any discontent in public.

I don't know how you can say they fired Bonds when he was technically no longer under contract.

Exactly what I'm trying to understand. Or is it just media jargon?

Call DJ, see what he knows.

I'm sure they were professional but Barry himself mid season or so did specifically Stanton didn't listen to him at times. His wording wasn't as dramatic though he basically said that during his slump stanton preferred to be left alone and didn't want to take Barry's coaching. Looking back now that makes sense to what Mish is saying.

I see this as more of Mish remembers that moment and is running with it.

Reading through all of it I'm OK with thinking the players loved Barry and his wisdom but didn't think he did the job as a coach (which was never for certain to begin with) and then Don spoke up for his players which led to Bonds leaving despite the front office liking him. That makes perfect sense to me. And while we here liked Bonds it also isn't wrong of the front office to listen to its manager and players when evaluating a first time coach.

To be fair, the guys let go weren't guys that Mattingly wanted to begin with. Bonds was a Loria hire & Lenny/Cornelius were here from the old staff.

Maybe Mattingly just wants to bring in his guys. Hopefully that's what it is.

How many guys does Donnie have? Not that there's anything wrong with that.

I hear Donnie likes 5 guys.

Lenny Harris and Cornelius is weird too because what did they ever do wrong. But to be honest a lot of this sounds like Don just making decisions after a full year with these coaches. Decisions that he thinks will help the team going forward. It's fair and not crazy. Other teams make these minor coaching changes as well, let's not crucify the Marlins for this one.

And Loria is letting him which is a good sign.
