October 4, 20169 yr Why does it always seem like the Marlins have much more stupid drama than other teams do?

October 4, 20169 yr Should of kept Bonds over Mattingley if Mattingley was being a little girl Agreed. Bonds > Mattingly
October 4, 20169 yr Also, I had a good experience with fredi personally too. Good person. He definitely seemed like a good, smart guy. But the manager job just felt like it was too big for his personality. Bench coach or any kind of coach position lower than manager feels like a great hire for a team. He's very good at keeping players level and managing egos (He handled the Uggla and Ramirez situations with class). Great guy to have in the clubhouse.
October 4, 20169 yr Agreed. Bonds > Mattingly It was never going to happen. It's far easier to find a new hitting coach than a manager (with Mattingly making far more money). Bonds also wasn't ready to manage a team yet. He did a solid job, but it was one year and the results weren't staggeringly good. Mattingly has the experience of both being in the playoffs as a player and managing teams to the playoffs. Whatever you think about him he's got the ability to lead the right roster to a playoff appearance. Bonds would very likely be in over his head if he took a step up next year. I'm also reading between the lines here, but Bonds doesn't seem to have the drive to be great at coaching that Mattingly has. I reckon Bonds enjoys coaching, but he doesn't view it as a lifetime job. Mattingly does.
October 4, 20169 yr I can't believe anyone would think Loria should have gone with Bonds over Mattingly. These are probably also the same people who have gone bananas when Loria has made rash, irrational, and emotionally driven decisions in the past.
October 4, 20169 yr Mattingly is a shitty in-game manager and good clubhouse managers are easy to find. No chance Loria would ever fire him, though.
October 4, 20169 yr Eduardo says he isn't surprised by Bonds leaving. That tells me his issues as a coach weren't so hidden within the organization. He did praise his work imparting his wisdom but also said it was best if Menechino just kept on as the hitting coach. Sounds to me like Bonds didn't do a lot despite being a good person and a knowledgeable hitter. I'm guessing Menechino did all the work and Bonds just coasted and said smart things here and there. Just like I said when Bonds came on, Menechino was probably only the assistant in title alone because of Bonds' ego. I feel like I was right there.
October 4, 20169 yr Yes, they just unearthed and hired Babe Ruth. Awesome, he can be pitching coach AND hitting coach. Save a salary
October 4, 20169 yr Also, good job Frank Menechino. He took a backseat to Bonds for publicity yet still was a champ out there and earned the job back. Probably one of the better coaches we've had down here. Happy for him.

October 4, 20169 yr Yea, menechino did all the heavy lifting so to speak. Assistant hitting coach is a busy enough job, we should really hire some people for the manual labor
October 4, 20169 yr Third base coaches always get a lot of unfair scrutiny, but I thought that Lenny Harris kind of sucked. Made more blunders than Espada did. Not as bad as Bo Porter though. Lenny Harris fucking sucked. It's something like a 200% upgrade with fredi over Lenny Sent from my iPhone using MarlinsBaseball.com mobile app
October 4, 20169 yr Yea, menechino did all the heavy lifting so to speak. Yeah I heard he tried to help Bour out of his seat.
October 4, 20169 yr The marlins haven't had a good 3b coach in a long time. just have prado do it he'd only have to take a few steps in b/t innings
October 4, 20169 yr Yeah I heard he tried to help Bour out of his seat. Watch it with the fat shaming

Eduardo besides speaking like a marble mouth is also a hater, wtf did he do here when he was a hitting coach
October 4, 20169 yr Watch it with the fat shaming Why do you care? You're not fat anymore. You should be joining me in this.
