Barry Bonds not re-signing

Featured Replies

The bonds firing just smells of two strong egos not getting along in Mattingly and bonds. I'm sure bonds and stanton didn't get along with stanton growing a small ego and feeling he's good enough not to have to listen to bonds and bonds getting upset bc of it.

Bonds deserves a hitting coach job somewhere next yr. He did a great job with young hitters this yr. The lack of runs and power is more a problem with the makeup of the lineup than the production itself. He'd be a good hire for any team.

Lenny Harris and Cornelius is weird too because what did they ever do wrong. But to be honest a lot of this sounds like Don just making decisions after a full year with these coaches. Decisions that he thinks will help the team going forward. It's fair and not crazy. Other teams make these minor coaching changes as well, let's not crucify the Marlins for this one.

Third base coaches always get a lot of unfair scrutiny, but I thought that Lenny Harris kind of sucked. Made more blunders than Espada did. Not as bad as Bo Porter though.

Porter was worse. But yeah, not saying much.

I have a feeling that this is an ego thing between Mattingly and Bonds and Loria sided with Mattingly.

That's unfortunate because I'd rather have Bonds in the dugout if I had to choose between the two.

Same.

I think there was some "power game" in coaching staff, Loria and Marlins org. have declared and supported Donnie the winner.

A coach over a manger? I didn't heard that.  Just an arrogant man lost.

Fire Mattingly!

Bonds for manger/hitting/pitching/fielding/first base/third base coach!

But really, can we get rid of Nieves and hire Bud Black as pitching coach?

But there's no choice between the two. Bonds was on a one year deal and Mattingly is the manager. If Loria had kept bonds over Mattingly and the player's wishes he'd be back to stupid meddling Loria. He did the right thing in this situation regardless of what anyone thinks of bonds or of Mattingly.
