October 5, 20169 yr So why is Menechino still around? He actually did all the work that Barry didn't do. And the hitters improved with him when he arrived in 2014. Nothing wrong with menechino.
October 5, 20169 yr He actually did all the work that Barry didn't do. And the hitters improved with him when he arrived in 2014. Nothing wrong with menechino. Is this even quantifiable that the hitters are better in 2016 vs 2014? I'm sure batting average is better, but as a wise man once said who cares
October 5, 20169 yr With menechino I'm just saying that 2013 was an abysmal year on offense and he came in and the offense improved in 2014, since then I've never heard a bad thing about menechino and all signs have pointed to him being a solid coach. Based on that, I'm okay with the job this guy is doing. The latest word that he actually did all of Barry's work this season is just more icing on the cake.

I'm not trying to be a pain in the ass but how bout something quantifiable to prove the point or not (don't care either way)
October 6, 20169 yr I'm not trying to be a pain in the ass but how bout something quantifiable to prove the point or not (don't care either way) I admitted I'm not using anything quantifiable to prove my point. I admitted my point is subjective based on my observations as a Marlins fan who watches the game. You can call me out for not using anything quantifiable but I never claimed to be speaking the gospel on menechino.

It was a sincere ask for evidence one way or the other tbh

October 8, 20169 yr I don't know how Bonds calling out Stanton was wrong. He was hitting like .150 and swinging at anything in the dirt and taking pitches right over the middle... Fans were asking for him to go to the minors.

October 8, 20169 yr Where was it said bonds called stanton out ? Several sources have brought it to light ONLY RECENTLY AFTER BEING DISMISSED including Yahoo. Here is one: http://sports.yahoo.com/news/barry-bonds-wrote-a-thank-you-note-to-the-marlins-162015488.html Ironically, throughout the year, it was publicized often especially during games on FS FLA that Stanton and Bonds got along fine and that all the players loved him. Weird though, now that he's gone all the negative stuff is published. Almost makes me think ownership is involved in the negative attention.
October 8, 20169 yr Oh yeah I heard about that. Wouldn't say that's calling him out but I know what you mean. Sounds more like Bonds was complaining to everyone about Stanton tuning him out.
October 8, 20169 yr He was probably just "holding him accountable". I mean Stanton was repeatedly swinging at shit in the dirt and taking pitches right over the middle. There is no denying that. Most people in the Marlins clubhouse were probably too scared to call him out on hit though.
October 8, 20169 yr Welcome to the site @RIP16, I only wish you joined us under different circumstances.
October 8, 20169 yr If the relationship of Mattingly and Bonds was really as bad as reported, then I am not surprised we have a bad 2016 season.
October 8, 20169 yr If the relationship of Mattingly and Bonds was really as bad as reported, then I am not surprised we have a bad 2016 season. It's not the reason. Ultimately the relationship between them made little to no difference in the team's record.
October 8, 20169 yr Bonds not gelling with Mattingly and the hitters seems to be the only negative around the clubhouse this season. A welcome departure from the recent years of several clubhouse negativity problems. In trying to change the clubhouse culture I commend Mattingly for ridding themselves of a piece that didn't fit.
