I'd take a consistent .310 hitter with power over a flukey catcher with bad knees any day...

Javy wanting to play first wouldnt be bad for us. That means we could give Choi a rest when he needs it or when there is a better matchup against the pitcher and play Javy at first and start Castro.

He is always going to be a solid player.... I agree, he'll definately hold up for a while and continue to put up great numbers, especially now he's off turf. If we wanted a short term OF we should've persued Guillen. Man that was a steal... :banghead 2 years 6 mill. for a player of that Caliber? The Marlins could've landed him, had our lineup set with relative ease. and still had semi-big bucks left over for the bullpen but I have faith in the FO and hope they play it well from here on out
December 17, 200322 yr if we dont sign vlad, guys like redman and looper and another bullpen arm must be signed. it would be a huge slap in the face if they dont sign vlad and let redman and looper go on top of that for "cheaper alternatives".

December 17, 200322 yr If we are to truly be in position to defend out championship we should'e signed someone like Rondell White and moved Conine to first. We have become good by developing our players but when your in a championship run you dont have time for that (ex: Choi).
December 17, 200322 yr I think, if they really can't pull the rabbit out of the hat right now, that this was a bad call by the F.O. in just negotiating with Vlad for the OF spot and no one else. I mean, they pretty much sat pat the whole weekend without actually doing much, were they talking to Vlad the whole weekend? Hopefully they can make one last run at him, Hail Marys work sometimes (and especially if a little guy is involved, cue David Samson). But if the Hail Mary doesn't work, then it is going to be tough because alot of the more valuable OF guys have been gobbled up.
