Holaday exercises opt-out; stays with Marlins organization

Featured Replies

Sometimes I'm surprised by the people that take these opt outs. Does Holaday really have a chance to get on another team's opening day roster? If I'm Holaday I take the Marlins AAA assignment and wait for my call up because you know it would come.

Really ?

He started the year last year 0-10 with 8 Ks and wasn’t sent down.  Seems like Dad maybe helped him out there

I believe this team knows what they're doing.

Holaday still has 48 hours to decide if he wants to stay and go to New Orleans.

This makes more sense now as he basically gets to call the other 29 teams and see if anyone needs him on their MLB team before he decides to go to AAA for us.

Yes Mish jumped the gun apparently on the release.

Mish doing something factually questionable in order to be first on a hot take? No! Never!

He's the prime "first-not-facts" example of Twitter journalism.

He was probably right with Straily from the start. The DFA was probably a formality but they probably told Straily right away that the release was happening.

Anyways not surprised Holaday stays. He got a few days to test the market but if he wasn't getting a major league deal there was no reason to leave us.
