We have the potential of offering Bleday/Misner a total of up to $9,216,550 (or $9,219,490) without losing a draft pick. MLB's original pool says $13,045,000, (using that link above, I added up the pick value of the top 10 picks and got $13,047,800). I then added up what guys have been signed for and got $4,480,700. That means for those top 10 picks, we have $8,564,300 (or $8,567,100) left. Looking into it more (I provided the MLB info below), the top 10 picks are the only ones assigned a slot value that counts toward/against our pool figure. Only if a guy from 11-40 signs over $125k will that count against our pool. According to that list at that link, there were only a few guys right at that $125k figure, so they shouldn't count against our initial pool. There are more guys unsigned, but I'm assuming the team will cap everyone out at that $125k figure to not affect their pool for Bleday and Misner. Also important to note, we can exceed our bonus pool too, but we'll incur pentalties. We can exceed it by up to 5% and "only" pay a 75% tax on the overage. After that, we'd get hit with losing draft picks. MLB's list at the link below says the Marlins had a $13,045,000 pool (so not sure where the extra $2,800 comes from adding up the picks from the new link, but still a negligible difference), but given that, that means we could go up to $13,697,250 ($13,700,190 using the new link) total (an extra 652,250 or 652,390) without losing a draft pick, and "only" paying a $489,187.50 (or $489,292.50) tax. Meaning we have the potential of offering Bleday/Misner a total of $9,216,550 (or $9,219,490) without losing a draft pick. July 5, 20197 yr Taking Heyman's post at face value..... If Bleday takes that $6,664,000, that'd leave us with around $1.9M left. Now, Misner's slot is 2.1, which means there's some off math somewhere. That said, if my math is roughly right, they can offer Misner up to roughly $2.55M (this would be a 5% over their pool total) after accounting for Bleday at full slot value before they run into higher overage charges and lose draft picks.

July 10, 20197 yr For these things the deadline doesn't really matter as much in the sense that most of these top draft picks already have an idea if they're gonna sign or not. The deadline is a formality at that point and the time until then is just discussing minor details but I don't think most are making their decisions at the last minute. Kinda explains why everyone has said the Bleday deal will happen.

The slot value should be the max, take it or leave it. Who are these guys to be demanding much more when they haven't done anything professionally yet. Although if the team isn't offering the full slot value then that's different. Just don't think anyone should really be asking over slot.
