Marlins sign Matt Kemp

Featured Replies

If it's their Nick Castellanos then I'm really done with this team !!! what a joke !!!

Castellanos isn't happening. Never was. He has no reason to sign below market and it is the only price they are willing to pay.

Kemp couldn't fit as a full time OF (cause of horrible defense). I think FO add him as a 1B + part time corner OF.

I'm rather to believe it's just a depth move and they're still want to sign Puig or Dickerson, but maybe I'm wrong …

They still have a chance to "fix" this, but until they actually sign someone else (one of the other guys we've talked about), this looks like their "big OF move"

It is a no risk signing, the problem is if this is their FA move of the off-season for a bat. If there is more coming, then no problem with this move.

It might look worse than it is because of timing, they were out on everyone and then this shit happens and it looks like this is our big move. If they actually add beyond this and Kemp is just a minor league depth signing than yeah ok.

But, to get one step ahead of you: let's believe it when we see it.

Does it matter if we sign a big offseason bat this year? Is this the time to compete?

So even can't afforded to a cheap major league contract FA !?

Kemp is not good enough for that. If you are suggesting they should have offered Kemp a major league contract you are wrong. They should be making major league offers but not to this guy.

It doesn't have to be "time to compete" to show you're capable of improving the team especially when you make statements about doing just that.

I think it matters more because they said it was time to add and if Matt Kemp is the big addition they're insane.

Also gotta show an effort to not have a 3rd 100 loss season in a row.

The impact on the team’s other reputed offseason pursuits remains to be seen, but it seems fair to presume the signing won’t take the club out of the rest of the corner outfield market entirely.

Let's hope.

Fingers crossed.
