SilverBullet
Popcorn mixed with or otherwise eaten with other candy, such as M&M's, is gross... Change my mind. I've seen this come up as some kind of revolutionary great snack idea but it's nasty. Combines flavors that shouldn't go together. If I'm at the movies it's candy or popcorn but not both. Agree or disagree?

Agree or disagree? I don't need to change your mind, because I agree. Keep popcorn popcorn, and keep m&ms by themselves. I also don't like trailmix for the same reason - why do I want a complete mix of random things together? If I'm craving something I crave it, not 3 things. A potential asterisk to this could be something like kettle corn, which is popcorn, but sweet - but its its own thing, not something mixed in. SirFishFan
Isn’t caramel popcorn kind of like candy and popcorn mixed together? At the theater if they happen to have caramel popcorn, I like to get half regular salty and butter popcorn and half caramel popcorn. Makes a nice balance. Not too sweet like a full tub of caramel popcorn but also not too salty like a full tub of regular movie theater popcorn. But to answer your original question, I haven’t had popcorn and regular candy like M&Ms mixed together before. Seems like most of the M&Ms would fall to the bottom of the bowl though. 😂

hovertical
i do love trail mix but i don't like mixing popcorn with candy, etc. i might try some different types of seasoning salts to go with butter but that's about it. also, Orville Reddenbacher (sp?) is legit the only popcorn kernels i'll buy whether it's microwave in a bag or DIY kernels. the other popcorn kernels are not fluffy enough and don't pop right. P.S. don't use the popcorn button your microwave. Thanks.

Does anyone actually use that button or any of the preset buttons on the microwave? I've always seen those buttons my whole life yet I don't know anyone who doesn't just enter a time and hit start. No clue why those other buttons are even there.

SilverBullet
Flavored popcorn like kettle corn and caramel corn are perfectly fine, that's still popcorn. Glad to see I'm not the only one horrified by mixing in chocolates and whatever else into popcorn. Trail mix works if it's the right mix. I've also had trail mix that are heavy on chocolate and that doesn't work for me either.

No clue why those other buttons are even there. i use the baked potato button although i have to use it twice to really get the texture i want as once doesn't seem to really do much to the potato. i end up using the oven to finish the potato off anyway and get the jacket done properly but putting it in the microwave for a round or two first significantly cuts down the oven time needed for a good spud. SonOfJack
You all are sleeping on the "add 30" button. Quick way to do another 30 seconds when something is almost warmed up but not quite there yet.

I’ve had it in a big round tub/bucket container with a divider in the middle which keeps the two different types separate and can go back and forth or focus on one at a time. It’s fun because after a few handfuls of salty I feel like something sweet so I grab a big of caramel popcorn and same thing the other way around. 😂

There were points that this was the only button I'd use cuz on that microwave if you pressed it first it actually started the 30 seconds automatically, so its a one button press and the thing starts for 30 seconds, so if I wanted to heat something for a minute it was just press that button twice instead of (1, 0, 0, start), or three times for 1:30, etc. It was genius. SADLY, my new microwave doesn't have this button!!! It has a -10 seconds button though! What the hell is that for???

I have actually used the power settings a couple of times in the past. Like control if the microwave power is high low or medium. Specifically for softening butter, I don’t remember exactly how it was done but some way of adjusting the power settings I think to like 50% or something and putting in a stick of butter for a certain amount of time, it will completely soften the butter without melting it and the stick will keep its original shape. As opposed to just putting the butter straight in the microwave and having it melt completely. 😂
