It's entirely possible they were held up by permits. I have a job now that has taken literal MONTHS to get through permitting, and we're just a sub-contractor, and it's a small job.

It's an unused corner of their existing building that they just need to populate with memorabilia than I'm assuming they already have in their possession.

I said IF permits were involved.....they may not be, but I think it's likely they are. Stuff like this is not as simple as you think....and I doubt all they're doing is throwing a couple shelves up and calling it a day (or at least I hope not). It really depends on the extent of the changes made. This museum is supposed to be in the old taste of Miami area, right? So remember, originally there were 3-4 concession stands in there. To make the area larger for a museum (it was a narrow space with the concession stuff there) - that means all sorts of kitchen equipment, counters, etc. will need to be removed. They need permits for that. If new walls and electrical were put in, that stuff gets permitted. If there are new walls, that changes the fire sprinkler coverage (what my company does), and that requires permits. If HVAC (A/C) changed, that requires permits. In other words, any changes beyond painting at a public/commercial facility likely requires permits. And that stuff is usually subbed out, meaning there are several contractors involved, and several sub-permits under one master permit, so potentially several permits going through the process. Also, permits/work gets inspected, so if the permit for one thing is held up, that can have a domino effect of delays on the whole project. For example, the electrical I mentioned above....if there are new walls requiring new electrical, they can't close up the walls until that's been inspected. But if permits are held up, they can't inspect until those are approved, delaying everything. Edited March 31, 20233 yr by rmc523
