Either another colossal failure or the greatest comeback story of the decade..

But then again, I guess he was never really good enough to play in the Majors, so it wouldn't really be a comeback story.. Maybe a story of perseverance??

Well, who are we kidding.. This dude probably getting DFA within the next two weeks.. Although I am hoping for a great story as I always do.

He spent the 2020 season with the Seibu Lions in Japan, returned to North America in 2021 for a stint with the Nationals and then went to the Kia Tigers in Korea last year. He posted a 2.47 ERA in 124 innings with the Tigers last year.

was 8-8 2.49 era in the korean league last year.  is 33 years old.

nothing against mr. nolin but i'd rather see soriano get shelled and seasoned.  or simpson.

or bolanos. or robert garcia. or maldonado.  or even jackson rose or leban.

or bice.

or mendez or yan or reynolds or charle.ffs.

my point being all of those are young and will get better whereas nolin will get worse and is not that good to begin with.

the sooner we realize this the sooner we will get incrementally better.

I completely agree, but I think this is a "we need a guy at the very end of the bullpen for a few days and then we DFA him" type of move. They don't want to use an option on a guy who might not pitch and they don't want to risk a DFA on a guy they want to keep in the system. What I don't understand is why they didn't just keep Lindgren up since he serves the same purpose.

Actually why did we have to DFA Lindgren? Wasn't he just the 27th man on the roster for Saturday?

... unless we had to do that to add Nolin ... lololol.

This is a good question. Are we sure he was DFAd after the double header? That shouldn't even count as a DFA as you're not exactly being demoted, you were up for a specific reason and that reason has expired. Then again I would assume he would have to be added to the 40 man roster to even be eligible to be the 27th man.

Someone said Nolin is the first Canadian born player on the Marlins major league roster ever. That can't be right, can it?

Hahaha. Whoever this "someone" is was clearing talking out of their behind..

Just from very recently:

Charles LeBlanc - Laval, Quebec

Zach Pop - Brampton, Ontario

From the Marlins past:

Ryan Dempster - Gibsons, British Columbia

Chris Leroux - Montreal, Quebec

Paul Quantrill - London, Ontario

Can't believe I didn't think of Dempster right away but yeah

If he's my brother through marriage, then my brother or half-sister whom I've seen only once has a lot of explaining to do.

a lot of good points there.

I'd rather they just keep Soriano up there then since I guess it has burned one of his options.

that's not how options work, it's like an "option year" where a guy can be sent down and called up as many times as possible in one season and it only "counts" as one option. (but yeah, your point still stands, might as well have kept Soriano, but at least we got innings eaten by Nolin today)

Not anymore though, can only do it five times a season now.

ooh that's right. forgot about that, so if you need to send a guy down a 6th time, is it a second option, or can he just...NOT be sent down?
