None at all?!

I'm being an ass. I know, that's surprising.

For YEARS I ran away from soup because I always associated it with being sick and it's more like a medicine that you were forced to have even when you were sick even though you didn't feel like really eating it and you kinda just sipped the broth and left all the good stuff.

But in later years I figured out that really good soup actually does exist.

So to really answer the topic, I'd say a good French Onion soup is tops but of course a lot depends on the rest of the meal, if there is one. Tomato soup and broccoli and cheese soup can be so great. OMG how did I forget a baked potato soup but it has to be great because I've had some horrific ones as well.

I love this one. I find it hard to find others who like it. Now I know we can share a pot of soup.

It better be GREAT! I've had some watery, almost clear baked potato soup. As far as from a chain restaurant, Outback actually has a pretty consistently good one. Chili's is usually a wild swing and a miss and I'm always like why did I even bother ordering this here?

Oh actually Panera has a fantastic autumn squash soup that I believe is seasonal for the fall. I love that stuff.

Yes, I like that one too!

chicken noodle is a good go-to, though it's also "boring".

I've been getting into chicken tortilla soup lately.  Chicken chowder is also good - similar to chicken noodle, but a thicker soup.

my issue with soup you buy off the shelf is that it's absolutely PACKED with salt.  even the "heart healthy low-so" varieties have a ridiculous amount of salt in them

there was an Indian restaurant i used to go to ages ago that has since closed that had the best soup I've ever had though.  I don't dare try to spell it on here though (and i've seen it spelled a multitude of ways since then anyway)

oh - i like a good wonton soup on occasion too.

Going the opposite direction - I hate dishwater soup, aka Miso soup.

Wonton is great and Miso is trash, agreed on both.  Ever tried Nori soup or Clear soup? Same places serving Miso should offer it. It goes by either name but same thing.

Those canned soups are not good at all. Need a nice big pot of homemade soup. The good thing about soup, is that it is easy to make. No reason to buy it off the shelf ever.

Anyone ever figure out what brown sauce was?

In a small bowl or measuring cup, add warm chicken stock, sugar, soy sauce, dark soy sauce , oyster sauce, sesame oil and white pepper. Stir everything together until well combined.

I'm not talking about just canned though. The fancier ones in glass jars are way over salted and places like Panera, Cheddars, etc sell over salted soups too. My face feels like a balloon after eating any of that shit and nutritional facts check out. Way too much salt.
