OK - how do you or anyone else [polly, you fuck] know that he was the team’s third choice? He may have been the first choice all along, but by rule they had to wait until his team was done with the playoffs.

Polly trying to muster the masses again only to be casted down in the mud like usual.

teams are hoping the coach they hiring from a winning team to be their new manager will bring along some of that “winning culture and experience” and it will translate to the new team. Unfortunately when the new team they go to has guys like the current Marlins roster.. it will take a whole lot more than some winning mindset and magic.

To be fair, I think Skip and the 2023 Marlins are a good example that a winning mindset from a good manager and coaching staff can be a difference maker. That team doesn’t make the playoffs without Skip in charge.

Not that the current Marlins are built like the ‘23 team though but just wanted to point that out.

Eh, you’re not wrong but it sure feels like Albernaz was their primary target, not McCullough.

FWIW, I did hear that Albernaz is being promoted (in job title, and thus, in pay) with Cleveland, so that may be why he pulled himself from the Marlins managerial hunt. The Marlins job would have been an even higher promotion but I’m assuming he was too comfortable in Cleveland to pass up that promotion for our job which could eventually blow up in his face.

who is that?

Sounds like a guy that would have been very respected

I agree with this and I’d like to add Jazz being injured was the turning point since you mentioned mindset.

Right. That’s why I said current Marlins roster as of right now.

2023 roster with Skip had Jazz, Luis Arraez, Soler and then later of course Bell and Burger etc. Not to mention a full season with Sandy, Luzardo, Garrett, Cabrera and Eury Perez.

I know most of the starters are still on the roster. But yeah definitely a big difference between the end of 2023 roster and the end of 2024 roster.

And we saw first hand with Skip in 2024 working with less experienced/skilled players.

So my original point still stands. Like it’s great to bring in a guy from the Dodgers who seem to make the playoffs or WS every year. And I’m sure that guy will definitely have a good mindset and bring some of the positive winning culture with him from the Dodgers. Just too bad we don’t have Arraez, Bell, Jazz and Soler in the starting lineup anymore to help translate that attitude to real life wins. Of course it’s not like those guys are top tier players, besides Arraez.

Ugh, I just want better players on the Marlins in 2025! 😂

Kinda random but this pic of McCullough shows Mookie using the tiniest glove for some drills… is this a purposely small glove or are they actually using a little kid's size glove? Anyone ever seen this before?

I know the drill is on purpose. Was more curious if that's literally bought from the kids section or if they sell smaller gloves for drills like that.

That’s just @Admins glove

Could be a mix of both.

Honestly that looks too small even for the tiniest children.

Sherman and daddy fix both utterly obnoxious on the press release today

Did they talk about all the “different ways” again while being intentionally non-committal?
