Usually coaches from teams that have won the WS recently or at least made the playoffs for the past few years seem to have higher stock when it comes to getting hired as managers. But that seems to happen in every sport. Quite a few assistant coaches from the Patriots who worked under Bill Bellichek during the years of Tom Brady and all those Super Bowl appearances, got head coaching jobs including Brian Flores who was the Dolphins head coach a few years back. I guess besides looking good on a resume.. teams are hoping the coach they hiring from a winning team to be their new manager will bring along some of that “winning culture and experience” and it will translate to the new team. Unfortunately when the new team they go to has guys like the current Marlins roster.. it will take a whole lot more than some winning mindset and magic. How about some Dodgers caliber players as well?

Standard operating procedure. Does not mean automatically those two were the first choices, they just happened to be available to interview, so why wait?
