All of a sudden Mervis has good numbers on the season.

At least SLG and OPS. The OBP is still kind of pedestrian.

Well done by Ronny Henriquez. He reminds me a bit of Tom Gordon.

Which gives me the opportunity to say Nick Gordon was traded to the Royals today.

I got his autograph on one of my Marlins caps at the Trop last year. Nick, just like his brother Dee, was always friendly with the fans.

It's vital to never miss a hand day

When there isn't any swap ass available, a good hand job is an nice fall back.

Jupiter blows a first inning 5-run lead to lose 6-5. Prospect Walin Castillo had a tough day on the mound.

Evan Fitterer was sensational for Pensacola and Kemp Alderman looked like he was still in the Arizona Fall League with a homer.

Jumbo Shrimp putting up double-figures again.

Lots of stolen bases for all the affiliates as Bendix-Ball is starting to make its mark.

Have a feeling RyDawg is going to make a not so happy appearance here in a minute when they pull Cy Quantrill.

Well, I hate it because there was really no reason for it. He was pitching well and we have a 4 run lead. Then again, it's Quantril so I went complain, too much. LOL

Conine needed a hard hat and a road map on that play. He's forgiven because of the homer save last week, but he's no gold glover for sure.

Conine is a very good defensive player.

He's having a bad day then.

Cy Quantrill looked pretty damn good today. He's not in the long-term plans for sure but if we can get anything positive from him that's a good sign.

Two more minor league notes:

Marsee had a monster game. 2 hits including a triple, a walk, and two steals. If he can hit even .250 he's going to be a solid center fielder for a long time. Right now he can't come close to that but there is time.

Also, Jacob "White Cane' Berry is now batting .043 for the year.

Comprehensive team win there. Fish are 5-4 with the Sandman going up against something named Grant Holmes with the series in the balance.

The Good: Game balls to Quantrill, Mervis, Hicks, and Henriquez. Outstanding.

The bad: Conine struggled a bit in right field, overrunning a ball and just missing one on the warning track that he normally would have grabbed.

The ugly: Nitpicking but X-man on the base paths with a couple mental errors.

On to Sunday if the rain holds off.

LET"S GO FISH!

Yeah, he's been awful today, but he's really well regarded as a defender. His K problem is what's held him back.

They keep saying it is the first shut out in Atlanta since August 4th of last year as if we have played a dozen or so games there since then. It was the last game in Atlanta last year. We have shut them out in 2 of the last 3 games in Atlanta.

Some of that sweet swamp juice can help reduce the hand job friction

Mervis useful.

We might have something in Mervis. He certainly produced in the minors. Glad to see the Fish bought low on him.

i don't think anyone was ever going to buy high on Mervis....that's not to be confused with buying WHILE high
