February 11, 200422 yr Devil Rays signed first baseman Fred McGriff to a minor league contract and invited him to spring training. McGriff may just be hanging on to get the nine homers he needs for 500, but he can still help a major league team. The Rays aren't that team, but they'll let him show what he can do this spring. Good for McGriff, I hope he gets # 500 HR.
February 11, 200422 yr The outfield is packed with Crawford, Baldelli, and Cruz, 1st base has Tino, is Huff going to DH? Then how about mcgriff? Will Huff move back to third? If he does, the devil rays can make a run at being a decent team this year.
February 11, 200422 yr while were on the subject of mcgriff..which hat will he wear into the hall (if he goes)??? ill tell you which: the hat in the tom emanski defensive drills commercials
February 11, 200422 yr Cubs but seriously, i think he should go in as a Brave since his second most productive time was there and he won a World Series there.
February 11, 200422 yr what does everyone think of when they hear his name? the commercial seriously he should go in as a brave
February 11, 200422 yr McGriff will just show off and then be able to leave and go to a new team My thoughts exactly. He'll be with Tampa during ST, but not passed that. He'll show what he can do and move on to a team that can use him.
February 11, 200422 yr How many first baseman are the Rays going to sign this offseason? They have already gotten tino martinez, robert fick, and eduardo perez(really an OF but really does not play it well) and now the mad dog. what is this? lol
February 11, 200422 yr DAMN IT YOU BEAT ME!!! I knew I should have learned how to type faster (crying)
February 11, 200422 yr go in as a bluejay. but seriously...what team actually has a need for him right now? i guess if he hits, he will come cheap....he just wants to play to get those last 9 homers. but last year he as bad. very bad. unless i am just showing my age and forgetting things.
February 11, 200422 yr could also work like this: C Hall 1B Martinez 2B Lugo 3B Huff SS Sanchez LF Crawford CF Baldelli RF Cruz DH McGriff 1B-OF Fick IF Blum IF A. Perez C Fordyce OF-IF E. Perez if nothing else, McGriff is a draw for #500 and a very good veteran presence. with all the left handed hitters in the line-up, he should be able to help. another thing to consider is that McGriffs numbers last year could be soley due to injuries (probably). he should be around his career norms this year.
February 11, 200422 yr Huff at 3rd?... i guess but I would think Sandberg, Blum(do they have him) and Rolls would have the chance
February 11, 200422 yr Huff said he will not play 3B, so there goes that theory. I know hes bad at 3B, but I'd see him as a Chipper Jones at 3B with his offense making up for shoddy D.
February 11, 200422 yr Huff at 3rd?... i guess but I would think Sandberg, Blum(do they have him) and Rolls would have the chance No love for the former 30-homer Tatis?
February 11, 200422 yr Huff at 3rd?... i guess but I would think Sandberg, Blum(do they have him) and Rolls would have the chance No love for the former 30-homer Tatis? oh yea him... no
