Your 'Sleeper' Marlin prediction

Featured Replies

This is a prediction thread, but slightly different. I think the official thread is too cumbersome. This thread I want specifically tailored for everyone to pick their sleeper Marlin player. By that, I mean someone no one expects to contribute to this team that will do so. A sleeper is someone that no one anticipates but has ability. It seems that every year a champion is crowned, there are players like this that pop up. I figured it would happen to us last year, and it did, but more than anyone could have thought. Last year's sleeper examples would be Miggy, Dontrelle, Fox and even Mordy.

For this year I am going with Nate Bump.

Ok, let 'em rip boys...

Tejerable will have an above average year as our long man and get some key outs vs lefties...

I'm going to have a modified sleeper: Dontrelle Willis, and let me explain: everyone is expecting a big slump from him but I don't see him falling apart the way people are predicting. Will he win 20? no, but he will win around 15, and have an era under or around 3.50, not bad.

As for a player no one expects anything out of: I'm going to go with Gracesqui, I think he'll make the camp out of S.T. and he'll be a pretty good lefty-specialist in the pen...

Jack McKeon.

You can't tell me he dozed off last year.

Oh!

I think Choi will silence his critics, and Blaine Neal will secure his spot in the bullpen.

Wil Cordero.

He's the tenth man on this team. If almost any starting player (except catcher) is injured or slumps badly, after you juggle the lineup, Cordero will be starting in the field everyday.

Darren Oliver ... i dislike the guy, but i see him putting up half way decent numbers, since our defense and space of the pro will help him tons ... plus he'll have a better batting avg than AGon.

and "chop chop" CHOI ... the dude is fresh, has ill amounts of gap power ...and he'll hopefully reach the 75+ RBI plateau

Ramon Castro, in a couple years we will be saying what was the name of that catcher from the 2003 season

Damion Easley Could Come up Huge of the bench

as for starters, i'll say Choi, just as my signature says

Im going to go with Carl Pavano and Alex Gonzalez...

Alex shown some signs of a break out year and helping the Marlins alot last season but then just brokedown in the 2nd half. Pavano also showed signs, he lead the team in fewest walks and pitched some very good games with us.

Bump

Bump showd signs of greatness earlier last season but then lost control of his pitches which gradually led to more hits, walks and a higher era.

i think a full year in the bullpen for tejera would do him good (hes had to do some work in the rotation before)

other relievers to watch are bump and neu

I'm going to do two of these.

My Big Sleeper? Mike Neu. All I have seen of this kid screams stud. Granted, the college and minor game are very different, much less the college and pro game. However, his stuff is flat out sick, and I think he'll benefit from being one of the hometown alums. People will catch on to this and he'll become a fan favorite. He'll feed off that.

Breakout star of the Year goes to Carl Pavano. The Man will show why he was traded for Pedro Martinez. Nuff said.
