Abraham Nunez starting RF?

Featured Replies

Where do you guys get some of this stuff? It comes down to Choi and Abe? Choi is on the 25 man roster, Abe is not. Abe can earn a spot on the team but it has nothing to do with Choi. Sheesh.

Considering they both tore up the minors but neither have done anything in the majors, I'd say a starting spot in the lineup is definately on the line here.

You can say whatever you want Wild, its a free country, but that doesn't mean you're right. A decision made about one has nothing to do with a decision made about the other.

If I'm not mistaken Choi was the opening day starter for the Cubs last year, and was traded hear to be our first basemen. Abraham Nunez was a september call up a couple of years ago and hit about .100. Nunez is playing for a spot on the team. Choi is playin to not lose the starting job.

Exactly. Choi has the 1st base job to himself and will split time with Cordero. We need some of Choi's lefty power. I expect Hee Seop to get a lot of doubles this year. Nunez will be on the bench.

If Abe can produce just as much power, but with speed and defense as well as hitting for an average, why not play him?

The jury is still out whether Nunez can hit MLB pitchers! He faced a nobody today and only hit .100 when he was called up. Honestly, I'm big on Nunez and I hope he makes the team, but I can't see him starting just yet. You don't go from AA to starting on the World Champs that easy. This isn't the 98 Marlins! Thank god.

Yo!

First, alot of good points. Second, i was only stating my opinion that if nunez gets an opportunity at the begining of the season it may be better for the fish this season. Tremendous upside for a guy who never has gotten an everyday shot. Third, Cordero will get a serious look for ab's at 1B and LF. He is capable of putting up good numbers.

you guys really need to chill out

its been 4 ST games and you are all spazzing out here

jeez

Again what has Choi done?

Choi has done nothing.

there ya happy?

Now stop ripping the poor guy

its been 13 at bats

I'm not against Choi but I do want the best players in the starting lineup wether is Choi,Nunez or Cordero. All I'm saying Choi shouldn't be a lock if his performance doesn't improve at the plate.

what if that Cabrera guy goes in a 2/15 slide here in ST, should we send him down?

come on, its a little too early fellas

Cabs is a lock as a starter. We already know how successful he has been at Major league level. Now Choi needs to earn his spot just like the rest of unproven players.Choi doesn't deserve a free ride.We are assuming Choi struggles and Nunez has a good ST so I don't see what the big deal if we are a little concern.

again

13 at bats

there is absolutely NO reason to be worried or show any concern

Goes beyond 13 at bats...

Last year he was horrible and couldn't put up decent stats in winter ball.I just don't think he is the real deal but he has all of ST to change my opinion on him.

Ryan Christenson is hitting .667 this spring. How is this guy not the starter!?

ST shouldnt change your opinon one way or the other

his stats are meaningless

and winter ball means jack, and yes he struggled as a rookie.... sorry most rookies arent DW or Cabs

:lol

no seriously, with Juan Pierre hitting no better than .500 maybe JP's job is in jeopardy

Ryan Christenson is hitting .667 this spring. How is this guy not the starter!?

How stupid is that comment that I'm not even going to counter.

How stupid is that comment that I'm not even going to reply. My point EXACTLY.

CHOI CAN'T DO NO WRONG!!

Close the thread.

All I'm saying is we haven't even had a week of spring training games. It's a little early for this.
