  1. More likely Alfonseca before Sanchez
  2. We didn't need him, we have Joeeey Wendle, to prove your point.
  3. For me, I cannot assume he is not trying, but to keep repeating his narrative "these guys are paid to hit, they are good, they have 500 at bats" ignores that other closers are not losing more than 50% of their opportunities and are getting guys with "500 at bats" out. That is what irks the most. He is paid to get guys out, even those with 500+ at bats. How about "I am disappointed, I want to help this team win and will keep working to do so". It almost makes me think he is saying that our guys suck and the other guys do not. He did not come here as a project, he came here as an experienced closer. I doubt we people would accept Avi saying "I try, but these pitchers are really good and are paid to get hitters out". But, on balance, we kept throwing Avi out there to not come through, so I guess we will keep trying to figure out where to spot Robertson.
  4. Yea, so we would not have to suffer extra innings. Let's pitch Mr. "they are better than me" earlier so we can get to bed sooner.
  5. I guess he can suck, but stop with the BS coming out of his mouth. On the Randy hit "He's a good hitter, that's what they do. It's the end of August, you know? It's almost September. Those guys have seen a lot of pitches at this point; they've got 500 at-bats under their belt. So it's tough to get them out..." ???"It's the end of August, it's almost September.." WTF-he can look at a calendar. He is basically saying all highly paid relievers like him are getting lit up regularly. I love the attitude-"not my fault, they are just better than me".
  6. A couple of times over the years if we speak to some people it's where some of the visiting players family would sit also
  7. That is what I heard and read on a national front-the first discussion was "what's wrong with the Yankees" with a deep dive into all their issues. Then afterwards, they discussed Arraez and gave a nod that the Marlins are a good team and the pickups at the deadline were sneakingly good. But not much else. As to the fans, we have our seats on the first base side, Sec 11, and it is always a visitors side. Sat next to a nice group of Yankee fans, no one was obnoxious. Overall, through the years, pretty consistent. I give obnoxious #1 to the Cub fans by a big margin then the Mets.
  8. I am so ready to throw a bowling ball at the tv
  9. Rod Allen on the radio was raving about how we were jacking up the pitch count of Weaver. Well we may lose the game but we win the pitch count
  10. Way to move him over
  11. We will have runners on 1st and 2nd and nobody out in three of the Innings and fail to score in each of them
  12. Only went 6 good 6 the other day
  13. No one bet we would score.
  14. Officially we are the A's/Royals
  15. Except I thought we were buyers for this year and we needed a SP.
  16. I think they saw they could get Lorenzen, Flaherty or Montgomery, but somehow Kim got beaten out and plucked a Weathers instead whose numbers were as bad as he was yesterday in his outing-consistent. What did we expect-a magical reversal to Randy Johnson.
  17. I would have loved Flaherty and was high on Lorenzen, but they are rentals and we needed those darn bats.
  18. So I feel like we gave up two good young pitchers. Get a few more home runs and a lot of swing and misses, no upgrade at first base, and a really rag pitcher in Weathers. We have not improved.
  19. Weathers 1-6 6.25. I'm overwhelmed
  20. Burger has to do more than just home runs to help us because he's going to leave a lot of men on base because his non home run batting average is only 141
  21. Concerning is one of the worst strikeout rates in the majors, one of the worst on base percentages in the majors and a very low defensive rating. So all we're getting is hopefully, some pop.
  22. Personally I had hoped we would keep Eder as an upside starting pitcher. Burger is hit or miss, almost what Soler is now. I'm really more miffed that Philadelphia got Lorenzen for practically nothing.
  23. The Marlins have acquired left-handed reliever Jose Castillo from the Padres in exchange for cash, per a team announcement. Castillo, whom the Padres designated for assignment last week, has been optioned to Triple-A Jacksonville. Miami had an opening on its 40-man roster, so a corresponding transaction isn’t necessary. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/miami-marlins
  24. Why coaching matters, two words, Jesus Sanchez. With proper coaching they have actually taught him how to hit the ball.
  25. I can't admit it. Keeping up with the theme of concern in a 23-1 lead in the bottom of the ninth, I feel as soon as I glow too much about our success it will be a cause of doom. I will just keep worrying, it seems to be working.
