Some thoughts so far..

Does it seem like the Marlins have been reluctant, if not stubborn about Jazz not playing SS?

I mean it's his natural position, and I can understand the past couple of seasons that he wasn't going to play SS because of Miguel Rojas as the starter, but now that Rojas has left, it was the perfect opportunity to have Jazz take his rightful place as the Marlins' post Hanley Ramirez SS superstar.

But nope, let's put Joey Wendle at SS and put Jazz in CF. Which after just several games of Jazz out there is giving me major Jonathan Villar flashbacks/deja vu almost. 😂

Speaking of Wendle, we all can see so far that having him at SS just doesn't look right, something seems off about it. I would even say that having Segura at SS and Wendle at 3B would be much better. Wendle just fits the 3B profile much better in my opinion.

The Marlins have a lot of OF and IF depth this season, which is always a good thing, but it could be played out so much better.

Like even:

1B - Cooper/Gurriel

2B - Arraez

SS - Jazz

3B - Segura/Wendle

LF - DLC/Sanchez

CF - Berti

RF - Soler

Just that right there, instantly improves the Marlins defensively, and having Berti/Arraez/Jazz at the top of the order.. would improve offensively as well, I think.

But of course, that won't happen anytime soon or at all, even.

I know it's only opening weekend of the season. And chances are that some changes might be coming eventually. I'm just wondering how long it will take.. sometimes people like to do the whole "Let's give it some time" thing and put out these same lineups and defense for a few weeks.. and every once in a while it will work great for a game or two and then they look like geniuses for setting it like that. But unfortunatly the rest of the games in between the couple that do good are a bunch of not good ones to suffer through. 😂

You're missing Avi in that lineup unless you plan on having him DH

He can be DH on Gurriel off day./Late innings defensive replacement for Soler.. Just have Soler in the game until he hits a HR and then replace him in the field with Avi to keep him in shape. 😂

I call the Mets "Mutts “ before but I would never do that again, Cohen is a very much respected owner (everybody know why). I hate they beat us but Cohen do his best to WIN and Sherman didn't.

You'd be way happier as a Mets fan. Just make the switch already.

IIRC Jazz wasn't very good at SS either, thus the move to 2B

Maybe I missed that part. I assumed that it was because of Rojas holding down the SS position so he wasn't going to knock Rojas out of the lineup and Villar being traded and Isan fizzling out. But it makes sense, because the Marlins seemed very adamant about playing Isan as much as possible even giving him waaaaaaaaay too many 2nd chances.

I don't think thay was the case.  Rojas elite defense is why Jazz played second base.  Having a team full of second baseman is why he is out in CF.

As far a SS goes, Amaya, Cape and Nuñez are all considered very good defensive shortstop that will be up here in the next year or 2.  We have no one in the system that's coming up soon, who can play CF.  That's why Jazz is in CF now.  It's the best long term answer. Mesa Jr. might be able to do it, but I think he doesn't have quite enough speed.

Jazz also did do not well at short, but either way, I think he'll be fine with enough time out there. Growing pains.

That said, all could have been avoided by just getting that center fielder.

another abysmal effort. it already feels like we're 10 games under .500.  Please put Berti, Arraez, Soler at the top of the lineup tho in that order
