April 4, 20233 yr Jazz is in CF because there is literally no other real CF on the roster. I'm not going to knee jerk over Jazz after 4 games playing a position he has never played and dealing with an upper deck that he didnt have to deal with at Roger Dean. This is something you cant even begin to evaluate until probably Memorial Day. If Jazz isnt showing any real improvement, then its an issue. Jazz was moved off SS for two reasons 1. Rojas was a better SS 2. The Marlins had no 2b and Jazz was obviously deserving of his spot when he made the team. That said, Wendle at SS was always going to be stupid. Segura at SS would be just as stupid honestly. This roster is so poorly constructed in the end. You really have no viable SS alternative (I'd honestly rather Jazz not be there). Hopefully Iglesias can hit a little because he is so far and away the best option to actually play the position. You have no real CF on your roster (hopefully Jazz can be that) You have 10 corner outfielders You have 15 second basemen. Just dumb overall. Luckily they signed Yuli and hopefully he quickly becomes the regular at 1b cause well, Cooper is not good defensively. For a team relying on pitching its pretty fucking stupid to basically ignore defense all in all.

I was talking to @Michael about this earlier today, but the issue with a team filled with contact hitters is that it takes 3 contact hits to score a run. Single, single moves the runner to third, then you need another hit (or a sac fly at that point, but still) to score. With power hitters, a double plus a single is a run. A home run is a run. The Marlins offense has almost no chance to have a big inning because every single hitter in the lineup is a candidate to ground into a double play. Single, single, GIDP, single, single, lineout. That's an inning with four hits and only one run scored. Another issue with this lineup is that these contact hitters? The Marlins lead the league in strikeouts. Why? Because pitchers pitch to contact hitters differently when there's a big power guy in the lineup. You throw hittable pitches to guys like Arraez and Segura because worst case scenario, they're hitting a single. You try to get them out, but you save your swing and miss stuff for the guys with more pop. Miss your spot to Luis Arraez? Probably a single. MAYBE a double. Miss your spot to Pete Alonso? Jonron. So when a contact hitter is "the guy" in the lineup, and there's no big bat coming up later, you can nibble a little, hit the corners, throw more offspeed shit because it doesn't matter if someone gets on base ahead of....the next contact hitter. Prediction that I made on the bird site earlier: The Marlins will end this season top-5 in hits but bottom-5 in runs scored.

It's why they need Abreu and one of Turner /Bogaerts/Correa, they're really just “two hitters ” away.
April 4, 20233 yr Why don't spend big ??? why ????? If they acquire Abreu and Bogaerts I would be very happy and still very happy even start the season with 1-4 record because with those two big bats you got the chance to WIN every day. Edited April 4, 20233 yr by TaiwanMarlins

April 4, 20233 yr yes it's only a game, just like for every other franchise. But when you're stuck with an owner that doesn't want to spend and u build an organization around that, it's not a laughing matter for the fans. I'm not making 3-12 million ay ear to watch to watch this.... but Ng said on her interview in the booth the other day when asked by Thut or Severino what was it about "SKIP" that inspired you to hire him ? her answer was "he wants to win " WHAT THE HECK! " That tells you all you need to know. I just found this stupid blog that has a commentator and makes humor in it all. How about speaking facts and reality. If I wanted humor I will watch Jimmy Fallon or The Three STOOGES. Enough , I wish MLB could do something to salvage this organization for their fans...the 25,000 - 30,000 a game that like myself won't spend my money to watch mediocrity. thanks. I hope the commentator actually passes this comment through for all to read.

You'd be mad at this team starting 1-4 even if Trout and Ohtani were on the team.
