  1. What happened to Vargas I thought he would pitch #3...L R L R thing. Well, the first game the Marlins will need to start Olsen is April 15 after Mitre, so at that point, the rotation will be Willis-Mitre-Olsen-Moehler-Vargas, L-R-L-R-L.
  2. Is any Floridian getting this game on DirecTV Channel 634? I have it on Dish Channel 423. Affirmative. Curious to see what happens tomorrow, I have a feeling I might be very angry.
  3. Should be Moehler for the home opener.
  4. Last year produced a record 27 named storms that evolved into 15 hurricanes, seven of them major. It was the most destructive hurricane season in American history. Just for reference, last years April 1 prediction was 13 named storms, 7 hurricanes, and 3 intense hurricanes. Why anyone even gives these forecasts any notice is beyond me (I dont mean the poster of this thread, but the public in general). Everyone knows were in an active part of the cycle, but to try to predict the number of storms is a crapshoot.

  6. Hate to say it, but get used to it-its not going to stop. Im not calling anyone a bigger or lesser fan because thats just stupid, but by reading the board recently, you can tell who was just a big of a fan in 98, because weve been through this before, and it really doesnt bother me. You kind of are calling some bigger fans and others lesser fans. I was just saying some people werent fans of the Marlins back in 98, whether they just hadnt started following them or were too young, whatever, not saying anything of how big of a fan they are. Im sorry you read too far into that, and that is hardly the point of the thread.
  7. Given that theyre going with a 4 man rotation until April 15, it should be Mitre, but that could change.

  9. Marlins claimed RHP Franklyn German off waivers from the Tigers. They'll have to free up a place on the active roster for him, which could mean that Ricky Nolasco, Chris Resop or Carlos Martinez will be demoted. German is no better of a bet than any of those pitchers, but the Marlins have nothing to lose by trying to turn his fortunes around. It's unlikely that he'll emerge as a closer candidate. Apr. 3 - 7:54 pm et Marlins designated RHP Nate Bump for assignment. Bump, who was sent down a week ago, certainly has one of the lowest upsides of players on the Marlins' roster, but he still might come in handy later. The team will hope that he clears waivers. Apr. 3 - 7:52 pm et -rotoworld For the Tigers last year, German had a 4-0 record, 1 save, 3.66 ERA, 1.64 WHIP, 38K in 59 IP.
  10. Lineups are in! Marlins Ramirez, SS Hermida, RF Cabrera, 3B Jacobs, 1B Willingham, LF Uggla, 2B Olivo, C Reed, CF Willis, P Astros Biggio, 2B Taveras, CF Berkman, 1B Ensberg, 3B Wilson, LF Lane, RF Ausmus, C Everett, SS Oswalt, P
  11. The responses from DirecTV only seem to make it more confusing. I just want to get it clear: If I live in Miami, I have DirecTV and FSNF and SUN are my local RSNs, as of now, there will be 55 games that will be blacked out here?
  12. Are these tickets for one ST game? I know its not ideal, but you could just buy another ticket if its that important.
  13. It's always the last place you look. Unless you keep looking in more places after you find them.
  14. Good article. Thanks for posting. Said a while back that I wish Andino would spend three weeks with Perry Hill working at 2B. He won't beat out Han Ram at short, but might challenge Uggla at 2B. In any event, as the #1 back-up mid-infielder he will get better experience (and confidence building) in the Big Show than he would being demoted back to the minors. How did you say this a while back if youve only been a member for four days, Arnie...err, Flag Man,...err, Seniors Count?
  15. Oh man... if only I knew about this earlier. Ive got some tickets for you, Miri. Just meet me in the parking lot, the tickets are in the backseat of my car. *Runs from Max* :o :confused
  16. I typed in the address of the richest person whos address I know and it said 5.77 million. Pretty nice place, too.
  17. With that, the Dolphins have just released Gus Frerotte. http://www.miamidolphins.com/pressbox/pres...?contentID=4380
  18. Scheduled to pitch today for the Marlins: Moehler, Kensing, Bump, Herges, Rupe. For the O's: Chen, Morris, Darensbourg, Rodriguez, Mitchell
  19. awesome. Thanks for the plug Baxter! And Jorgy's the man. :thumbup Not sure who wrote it. It says Clark Spencer, but has Baxter's email address.
  20. CATCHING UP WITH . . . By Clark Spencer kbaxter@MiamiHerald.com RYAN JORGENSEN The Marlins have a writer in their clubhouse. Catcher Ryan Jorgensen has an Internet blog -- Jorg's Journal -- that he uses to answer fan questions and offer behind-the-scenes insights into the club. ''You've definitely got to be careful what you say,'' Jorgensen said. ``They're asking me about trades and center fielders, and I'm not in any position to answer stuff like that. But they like to know a little bit of what goes on behind the scenes, not just what they can see on the field, kind of the life of a baseball player.'' Former Marlins closer Todd Jones did some writing, and Jorgensen said he ''might have to give him a call'' to get some pointers. Jorgensen said he usually does his writing when he goes home after practice. His blog can be found at www.marlinsbaseball.com. http://www.miami.com/mld/miamiherald/sports/14072367.htm
  21. Ross I think you meant March 29th, Wednesday? Thanks, youre right. Sorry about the confusion.
  22. As you may or may not know, the fifth largest tennis tournament in the world behind Wimbledon and the U.S., French, and Australian Opens, the Nasdaq-100 Open (formerly The Lipton), occurs on Key Biscayne every March. I work there, so if anyone is interested, I can get you two free tickets to any one of the following sessions: Wednesday, March 22 night Thursday, March 23 day Sunday, March 26 night Monday, March 27 night Wednesday, March 29 day (Day sessions start at 11 AM, gates open at 10; night sessions start at 7 PM, gates open at 5) The tickets give you a specified chairback seat in the upper deck of the 14,000-seat stadium and access to any match on any of the other 10 courts. The tickets run about $20-$25 each (no, Im not allowed to accept money for them and selling them is against the law), so I hate to see them go to waste. Please only ask for tickets if you intend to use them. If you are interested, send me a message and I'll get them out to you right away. First come, first served. If you want more information about the tournament, go to http://www.nasdaq-100open.com
  23. Dodgers tie it up with a home run by Cody Ross off of Ryan Rupe. 1-1 after 7.
  24. Former Marlin FYI: In his Red Sox debut, Josh Beckett gave up two home runs in the first inning to Julio Lugo and Jonny Gomes.
  25. Apparently, the Marlins got a run in the bottom of the 6th, so its 1-0 Fish.
