I saw Avenue Q on Broadway this past summer. It was entertaining overall and there were some funny parts, but generally I thought it was overhyped. People make it out to be this hilarious show and there weren't really many parts that had me laughing out loud very hard, more like a bunch of "haha" moments. Most of the jokes seemed kinda lame and forced. We wanted to see Spamalot but it was sold out for that weekend so we saw this instead, probably would have liked Spamalot better. Still, like I said, I was entertained by it.

I feel bad that that's one of the best concert experiences you've had in a long time.
  11. What kind of statement is that? I'm not saying one school is better than the other but just because you've never met any lawyers or judges that went to UF they don't exist?

  13. I've got a do not disturb sign on my hotel door; it says, "Do not disturb." It's time to go with "Don't disturb." It's been "do not" for too long. We need to embrace the contraction. "Don't Disturb." "Do not" psyches you out. "'Do', alright! I get to disturb this guy! 'Not'... sh*t!!... I need to read faster!" I like to wear a do not disturb sign on my neck so that little kids can't tell me knock knock jokes. Say "Hey, how ya doin', nephew?" "Knock knock!" "Read the sign, punk!"
  14. Well, personally I need all the money I receive from the state. It's what has allowed me to go through three years of college without having to get a job, and I don't have to ever pay back a loan. Also there is the proximity to home-- don't have to book a flight or prepare in advance in case of an emergency or a holiday. And I couldn't stand going to a school that doesn't have a huge sports program. And of course I don't have to ever worry about snow or any temperatures below 30 or 40 degrees. And it's not like I'm getting a bad education. Those are my reasons for staying. Yeah I agree that Gainesville or Tallahassee don't compare to northerneastern cities but North Florida is a stark contrast to South Florida, so it's good enough for me. To each his own I guess
  15. Some of you kiddies should definitely be looking up north. A change of scenery and if you are worried about the money, scholarships and financial aid are your friends. I don't think any scholarship you can get to an out-of-state school is nearly as good as what a Florida resident can get with a Bright Futures scholarship. My tuition is free, and combined with the Florida Prepaid Plan I get around $1200 deposited directly into my account every semester. That's why many people here stay in state. Plus, if you grew up in South Florida, the scenery at UF or FSU is completely different.
  16. Whenever the game's supposed to be on Sun Sports, they show old fishing shows or darts or poker or something. All the games on FSN are available, however. I haven't lived on campus for a while but I'm pretty sure it gets FSN.
  17. At home: Non-alcoholic, all I usually drink is water. Alcoholic, I drink beer. Not that big a fan of liquor. Favorite beers: Hoegaarden, Leffe, Blue Moon, Staropramen, Heineken, Skullsplitters, any wheat ale. At bar: Usually a cheap light beer, or something with whiskey in it (jack/coke, whiskey sour). When I go to a bar with many imports or microbrews on tap I try something new every time. At party: The keg, or whatever shot somebody hands me. Where do you get the Skull Splitter in G'Ville? I've only had it at Stubbie's downtown...just wondering. We found Skullsplitter at Ward's supermarket on 23rd Avenue east of 13th Street. It's an organic food store but they have a whole section of imported/microbrewed beers. Every time I go back they have new ones there, and supposedly you can request a beer they don't have and they will order it.

  19. True, the players are obviously at fault as well. Gotta hit when the opportunity is there, though Lowe must be given his credit. But what happened earlier in the game happened earlier in the game. Fact is, Girardi could have improved our chances of winning in the 7th inning and he didn't. For that, I blame him. I guess that argument is old, though. Just have to learn from it and win tomorrow.
  20. I would have done that too. Helms has proven more than once that he can hit in a spot like that. Even if he didn't, it would have been the best possible move Girardi could have made, and then he STILL could have pinch hit for Willis with a plethora of other guys.
  21. Man, I really can't believe this one. Generally this season I've given Girardi the benefit of the doubt but tonight absolutely blows my mind. Forget Amezaga for a moment. After his atbat we had runners on second and third with two outs, and he leaves Dontrelle Willis in the game to hit in a situation that could possibly have been (and indeed was) our last legitimate chance to tie the game or take a lead. EVEN IF YOU COULD GUARANTEE that Dontrelle would pitch a perfect 7th, why would you take that chance knowing that with only two innings remaining in the game you might not have two runners in scoring position again. But you couldn't guarantee that Dontrelle would pitch a perfect 7th. If he had, and if things had played out the way they did for the rest of the game, Olivo's home run would have tied the game in the 9th with 2 outs. The fact of the matter, however, is that Dontrelle had not only given up 2 runs in the previous inning... but had also walked the following two batters and then after an out had started the next batter off with 2 balls before intentionally walking him and then luckily escaping the inning. WHY keep him in the game to pitch another inning after witnessing the 6th if he has 99 pitches and it means he has to bat-- in a huuuge spot??? Makes no sense at all and at that point I knew we had lost the game. After the 2 runs he obviously lost the control he had had all game, and it showed in the next inning. I really still can't believe that that happened. As for Amezaga, when he was due up to bat I said "pleeeeeeease pinch hit for him" and when I saw he was coming up I begged him to prove me wrong. Of course he didn't. I definitely think keeping Amezaga in the game was a bad move but not nearly as boneheaded as keeping Dontrelle in. By the way, why the hell is Amezaga still starting? I would rather have Ross, Borchard, or even Reggie start. All these guys are actually outfielders and aren't any worse off than having a utility infielder out there. But that's a whole different discussion.

  23. I thought it was funny, but not hilarious as I was expecting. Not nearly as good as Anchorman in my opinion.
