  1. I tend to get overexcited and it is way early but holy crap we have a guy that looks like a combo of junior caminero and oneil Cruz down in the Dominican. His name is santiago solarte and he is seventeen and an absolute monster. 110 velos at seventeen, good eye, and nice plate approach. It will take a while but this may be the guy we have been looking to find for years. And if I'm wrong forget I ever said this.
  2. No Emilio Barerras is absurd. Not even mentioned. He's not some super prospect but they have guys like Pushard and Navaretto mentioned and not him. Dishmey is way too low. Also no mention of Juan Alva? and Noble Meyer should be in the also-ran category with DingleBerry and DillHead. Guy is a flat out bust.
  3. Garbage game, only thing missing was samoja pitching. Watched two 🕝 innings and turned it off. Saved me a couple hours wasted.
  4. Has been one of the best pitchers out there last few years, at least before his injury. Also seems to own the Marlins. He has just missed the Cy Young Award a couple times.
  5. Solid all-around win. Series win and back to .500. Now the Phillies.
  6. Yes Bender is allowed an off day. He looked absolutely unhittable first two batters then sorta lost it. When you pitch six guy there is a good chance one of them just isn't going to have his best stuff. It's on the offense though. That eighth inning was not good.
  7. Went from unhittable to wild thing in the space of a batter.
  8. Just finished watching the replay. Well done Marlins.
  9. Very nice. Currently blacked out of the D'Backs games even though I'm about 2500 miles away. Cut and paste annual MLB blackout rant.
  10. Jupiter game is in the 11th right now, but a couple things. Cova looks like a very solid prospect will be interested to see how he progresses. Arana is much bigger than listed and he is a standout in both the field and at the plate. Expect to see him shoot up the prospect rankings. Both look very promising. Andres Valor got hurt again and punching bag PJ Morlando still does not look good at the plate and he left after fouling a ball off his shin/ankle. Might be another trip to the IL for Morlando. Don't see him in our future unless something drastically changes. The Hammerheads game was far more satisfying to watch than the swing and miss Marlins. It sucks that we have to look to the future yet again but we at least do have some serious future prospects in the pipeline.
  11. Former Marlin Cole Sulser closing it out for the Rays. He was terrible with the Fish. He came over with Tanner Scott in a trade with the Orioles for two guys out of baseball and a competitive balance pick in the draft. The pick turned out to be Dylan Beavers who is decent for the Orioles, currently hurt, and is kind of a poor mans Kyle Stowers. Note: We also sent a PTBNL in the trade who was Yaqui Rivera who is putting up numbers in AA and AAA as a 22 year old for the Orioles. Edit: Might have been Jud Fabian instead of Dylan Beavers picked in the draft with our traded pick. He has not made the majors.
  12. Rasmussen is a very good pitcher when he is healthy but you can't win games with 1 walk and 12 strikeouts at the plate. Again, we need to look at our approach at the plate.
  13. Saw that. Ironic that all three were traded largely because they couldn't stay healthy and every pitcher we have is injured and these three have mostly stayed healthy (aside from Cabrera's recurring blister issues). None of the three have been all that great, at least this year. Of course, our returns for them haven't exactly lit the world on fire either.
  14. Gusto wasn't that bad. Would have liked to see him get a few more innings. We get the double play or Caissie catches that ball, it's a different story. That being said, he was hit pretty hard and his fastball sitting at 94 with little movement is not going to be good enough most days.
  15. Yes, saw that when the probables came out. Interesting to see how they do. Believe Trevor Rogers got the win yesterday as well.
  16. good to have you here Polly. Let's spark a rally.
  17. Love being off Friday, settling in to watch the game and seeing Gusto immediately get us behind the eight ball. The Fighting Fish never give up, but if this keeps up will be time to turn to the Jupiter game to watch the new kids Cova and Arana.
  18. ugh, frustrating that the pitching injuries are never-ending. Must be a tear with that timeline so not the best of news. Really think we need to look at our pitching philosophy. Rays had the same problem where the injuries just piled up and rotated as well.
  19. Heckuva sweep given our pitching injuries and good performance by Mad Max. Hope we can keep it up against the blueprint Rays this weekend. Need the young bats to keep us afloat until a few of the pitchers can come back. Braxton with a solid start at Jax tonight. Still hoping he can work his way back into the mix. Also wondering if we will see Rece Hinds at some point and if he can make any viable contributions at the big league level. He is still only 25 and has an OPS over 1.000 in AAA for the year.
  20. They don't value mccambley. I like him, but he is 27, was left unprotected and the Phillies didn't keep him either. He wouldn't move the needle. Hinds is 25, has exceptional tools but has a flawed swing/plate approach. The team liked to take fliers on guys like these because if they can fix them they become Tyler Phillips, Otto lopez, or Liam Hicks. If they can't fix them they turn into Morel, Wagaman, Jonah Bride, etc. Low risk, high reward at no cost. That's not to say Hinds will amount to anything. He has a little too much Morel in him, imo. But he fits their ""type" exactly. Personally I would prefer guys with better plate discipline over the all or nothing approach.
  21. Salas was overmatched at low A. He's still a solid prospect and remarkably playing above his level for his age. Hope he can get it right in rookie ball. Needs to put on some strength but still very toolsy. Two of the big three in FCL (Cova, Arana) were just promoted to Jupiter so will be interesting to see what they can do. The leap from DSL/FCL to A ball is one of the biggest sink or swim moments for a prospect. Lots of other minor league moves with promotions and releases. Our minor league depth looks pretty strong right now, probably as good as it ever has to be honest.
  22. Heribertgod with the big insurance runs. Don't have to pucker up for Fairbanks time. Looks like with all the injuries we are back to the Jacksonville express with a 20-man rotating pitching staff. Guess we will keep cycling guys through until some of the arms are healthy.
  23. Basura
  24. Milbrandt pitched again in AA. Wasn't as dominant as last few starts but gave up nothing through four innings until he surrendered a homer in the fifth. This ended his scoreless innings streak at 27 and change. 4.2 ip, 6 h, 2 er, 3 w, 7k's. No decision and raised ERA to 1.34. He was sitting 94-95 on his fastball and his curve and slider (it's a gyro-type sweeper that is borderline unhittable if they swing) looked sharper. Like his potential but he is not ready yet. Arquette looks the part. He is a physical specimen. Juan Matheus is a compact middle infielder and he looks very promising. Most impressive prospect I saw. We got him in the Weathers trade.
  25. It is a paradoxical question that deals with run expectancy and win expectation (win-maximizing decision). Without getting into the math, those two are not completely correlated to each other and can even go in different directions. The analytics say it is the correct decision to maximize winning the game, so I assume that is why they are utilizing it. Game was too early to watch, so I watched Pensacola instead. Our approach at the plate at the MLB level continues to be atrocious and frustrating.
