1. I think this is one the worst threads I've ever read, ever, on any forum. Some of you have absolutely no threshold for adversity. I blew a good part of my paycheck to go to this game with my girlfriend, sat through the heat till the very last out and I would NEVER rip the team like some of you Chicken Littles are. If this team turns it around, you will have NO right to cheer for them and count yourselves as Marlin fans. 951158 Seriously. I'm with you 100%. What the hell is wrong with you people. Even if they don't make the playoffs, they're OUR Florida Marlins. OUR team. Are you all just going to give up on them? It is not over. We have a strong team and we can still do it. And then everyone wonders why the Dolphins are so popular. People give up to easily. It's not over.
2. wow, for dontrelle to shoulder the blame after what i would call an amazing performance (8 innings 3 hits), what class. dontrelle just gained a a million more points in my book in addition to the million plus he already had.
3. i'll be there saturday for sure 443 row 4, as usual 947011 oh we're neighbors! im 444 row 1!
4. I'll be there Saturday and Sunday )))
5. #1 reason for gammons to be ignored. The Marlins are going to make the post season, so who cares?
6. Oh, so the Wild Card was decided on August 30th? Fact of the matter is the Marlins made the playoffs without Mike Lowell, advanced to the NLCS without Mike Lowell - hell, they did most of their damage in the playoffs without Mike Lowell. And like it or not, this isn't 2003. There isn't an impending Phillies collapse just because it happened in 2003, there isn't an impending Braves hot streak just because it happened in 2003, there isn't going to be a broken hand to one of our players like it happened in 2003 with a magic hero emerging from the rubble. History does not repeat itself in baseball. It is a completely by chance numbers game that every so often follows patterns but its only form of repetition is through the psychological makeup of the players, coaches, and fans who are thoroughly involved in the game's day in and day out affairs. And Mike Lowell has a very, very negative psychology at the moment that is only proving to be a detriment to this club's chances at winning baseball games and reaching the playoffs. You want Mike Lowell to play? Fine. I want to play in October. 930808 wow, very well said
7. Jeremy Hermida will automatically be the 3rd best hitter on the Marlins. Yes, he's young. Yes, he's a prospect. Yes, he's untested. But when it comes to hitters (pitchers are totally different)... if you can put up amazing stats at AA, you will put up good stats in the Major Leagues. Hermida will get on base with a .400+ OBP and occasionally knock in runs. All it would take is 10 minutes of your time to reseach Baseball America, his stats, his tendencies, and a refresher course in charting prospects from Baseball Prospectus. Then there would be no arguement. Hermida isn't just a good prospect. He's a special prospect. People are going insane about Jeff Francoeur. Hermida is every good as Francoeur, but he will also take 100 walks, while Francouer will be lucky to take 10. Some people are so loyal to older players, it's kind of sad. They are inferior players to Jeremy, and you will realize it sooner rather than later. 925278 perfectly said, period.
8. amaaazing game. hey i like the wave but i have to admit sometimes ill be paying attention to when the wave is coming to my section and i'll miss something, lol. I found it funny how I was just reading the attendance topic yesterday before the game and when i arrived in the parking lot it was really crowded. great attendance last night. I was just upset about that binder. I really liked it and wanted one and I was eyeing a couple but people didn't forget that they were under their seats . props to beckett, delgado, gonzo, pierre, treanor. great game!!
9. I got there 2 hours before a game last year and was one of the last people to get one.? They divide the 200 coupons between each gate (I think).? (The two players in my line were Nate Bump and Pierre Arsanault.)? :banghead 890814 Pierre Arsanault? Who the heck? lol. Nate Bump is pretty cool. So maybe 3 hours would be playing it safe. Can you take pictures with them?
10. hey i have a question. Before some of the games they have "pregame autograph sessions" for the first 200 fans. Has anyone attended one of these? How do they work and how soon do you advise getting there in order to be one of the first 200? thanks for the help
11. We had about a hundred of these polls reposted last year. Is this about which team you liked more or which team was better? The 97 club was built to win a championship and nothing less, so performance wise 97. Which team did I like better? 03 of course, no egos. Also, beating the Yankees > beating the Indians. REGULARS BA HR RBI 1B Jim Thome .286 40 102 2B Tony Fernandez .286 11 44 SS Omar Vizquel .280 5 49 3B Matt Williams .263 32 105 OF Bip Roberts .271 3 8 OF Marquis Grissom .262 12 66 OF Manny Ramirez .328 26 88 C Sandy Alomar Jr. .324 21 83 DH David Justice .329 33 101 I think thats a pretty good lineup eh?
12. I always loved the 1997 team but I wanted to know what everyone else thought.
13. Hmm... they're NOT normal people? I guess that explains why A.J Burnett sh**s gold. Come on man.... You are the reason players don't like to go out in public. They make millions of dollars because they basically sell their bodies to the sport. I agree that athletes make too much damn money, but the fact that they sacrifice themselves for their "job", I guess can justify them making more than a simple Systems Analyst, like me. Should they make more than doctors? No, but they do deserve compensation for all they go through as athletes... In addition, they also have a job that requires them to be in a different city every 3 days. That's rough on not only them, but their families, more importantly. None of this means they are to be at the fans' beckon call. If they're out having dinner with their family.... Leave them the hell alone. They are still normal people, whether you want to believe that or not... I never understood the whole autograph thing either. Do autograph seekers feel like they are so below athletes and celebrities, that they need them to touch a piece of paper and have them sign it as evidence?? let me rephrase.. I didn't mean they're not NORMAL. I know they're human. But they are definitely not the everyday working man. In some situations, ok let them be, but at Conine's restaurant?? OBVIOUSLY fans are going to be there and fans= autograph requests. I've never met a Marlin but being a huge fan I know i'd go crazy and ask for a picture. No disrespect to them but I would be overwhelmed. I do think baseball players have the hardest pro sports job being on the road all the time. I respect them but also know that they should give autographs under certain circumstances such as being at Jeff Conine, MR MARLIN'S restaurant! But I really don't think they should EVER complain..there are much worse things than making millions of dollars and being bothered for autographs. oh and by the way.."c'mon WOman"...girl here :thumbup
14. Why not let them be normal people when out with families. You hound them at food establishments, movie theaters, hotel lobbies and so forth, this is the main reason why players probably do not sign autographs anymore. Get the autographs at games, signings. Yea um, too bad they're NOT normal people and they make millions of dollars which is mostly thanks to us, the fans, so i don't think signing an autograph is going to kill them.
15. I seriously doubt AJ is going anywhere and neither is Lowell. He'll stay and go back to his old self next season.. ...i hope :confused .
16. I read in the herald that the yankees are offering pavano, felix rodriguez and prospects. I think that's the best offer. Remember Pavano is only on the 15 day DL, due to come back very soon.
17. ah mixed feelings. I love Al. He's such a classy guy but Mike Lowell is also a nice classy guy, it's about what wins I guess. poor Al
18. If most players were producing as poorly as Lowell they would have been sent down. I love Mike Lowell but c'mon, should we sacrifice a spot in the lineup just because he's a likeable guy who's a good fielder? Move Miguel to 3rd and put Conine back in the lineup, Lowell needs some bench time.
19. if it was beckett id to it in 2 seconds. 833118 I agree. Look Burnett is gone next year no matter what. Look at what happened with Carl Pavano, the Yankees get anyone they want because let's face it, to most players the money means more then the game. Gary Sheffield was always my favorite Marlin although his comments last night regarding his attitude if he were to be traded do concern me a bit. But I would like to point out, look at the year Pavano is having, nothing close to last year. I say we trade Burnett and Encarnacion for Pavano and Sheffield...only in a perfect world of course :confused . According to the Fort Lauderdale Sun-Sentinel, the Yankees are also eyeing outfielder Juan Encarnacion of the Marlins. Juan C. Rodriguez of the Sun-Sentinel, citing a National League source, reported the Yankees have inquired about Encarnacion and that that interest could intensify if they can't pry Mark Kotsay, considered their top target, from the Oakland Athletics. The A's, however, have not indicated Kotsay is even available at this point. Like most teams, Oakland is still in the process of deciding whether to buy or sell or stand pat. According to the paper, the Marlins would likely receive reliever Paul Quantrill from the Yankees in exchange for Encarnacion with the Yankees likely picking up all or most of the remaining $1.57 million of Quantrill's 2005 salary, plus the $400,000 buyout of a 2006 club option they have already declined.
