August 1, 200520 yr Everytime Pudge came to the plate with runners on base I felt like if we had Mohammed Ali in our corner about to go out and knock the living crap of the opponent. 2003.
August 1, 200520 yr It's like asking which of your children do you love more? They were both great, and 1997 had one of the best finishes in baseball history, but I had to go with 2003. Between Cabs homering off Clemens, Sea Bass' game-ending homer, and the dominant pitching, that one will stay in memory longer.
August 1, 200520 yr 97 was bought, 03 was earned 883467 So true, in 2003 the scraps we recieved from the 98' selloff propelled us to victory... in so many ways we owe our 2003 victory to that 1997 team, but there is no question that the 2003 boys were just a miracle to watch... you could feel it in the air.
August 1, 200520 yr both years in my mind where magical, but 03 had more magic, iwth the miguel homer, becketts game against the yank, alex gone-zalez, and pudge it was amazing. but 97 was no joke, i almost passed out after renterias hit, that team had more star power

Conine, Renteria, Sheffield, CJ - not to mention two rookie playoff starters (Livan and Saunders) had all been Marlins from the start of their careers or since 1993. Brown and Leiter were signed a season earlier to give form to what amounted to a mercenary staff. Not to mention that the payroll was nowhere near the most in the majors. The reason the "buying" a World Series tag gets slapped onto '97 was because of the fire sale that ensued. That team was built to compete for a few more seasons, but things didn't turn out that badly after all. Living outside of New York (and going to school in Philly) I've gotten comments when wearing a Marlins hat such as "I didn't even know Marlins fans existed." From Mets, Yankees, and Phillies fans alike. What all three of these teams have in common is trying to buy a World Series and failing. Needless to say, 2003 was a lot more fun and rewarding. Yankee fans still talk about Aaron Boone but seem to forget who (our) Alex Gonzalez is.
August 1, 200520 yr The 2003 team, because I was older and appreciated it a lot more. 883475 Bingo.
August 1, 200520 yr We had about a hundred of these polls reposted last year. Is this about which team you liked more or which team was better? The 97 club was built to win a championship and nothing less, so performance wise 97. Which team did I like better? 03 of course, no egos. Also, beating the Yankees > beating the Indians.

August 1, 200520 yr 2003 was sweeter, but '97 was amazing because it was the first time. Impossible to pick, at least for me.
August 1, 200520 yr I voted for 2003 because that team really was magical as everyone else was saying. It's not that the 97 team wasn't, but in 03 we pulled off a lot of miracles. The world rallied around the Cubs, but the Marlins still came back from 3-1 to beat them in their park. The Yankees were a far better team on paper, but the Marlins shocked them as well, and had memorable moments like the SeaBass homer. I still watch the dvd when i need inspiration for greatness.
August 1, 200520 yr I think the '97 team was a better team. Both were fun as hell to watch. And I'm old enough to have appreciated both.
August 1, 200520 yr I said 2003. Going into that WS, I was scared out of my mind. Everyone was so busy hyping up the Yankees and I think everyone wrote off the Marlins. It was VERY exciting to see the team beat them in NY. Also, I like how a lot of the players that were on that team are still on the team as opposed to the '97 team... and we all know the rest of the story.
August 1, 200520 yr 2003=excitement not to mention that we were complewte underdogs vs the yanks, giants ,cubs
August 1, 200520 yr I will always love that 97 team. It was a magical season and and playoff run. And it was a series that truly went the distance. I will never forget Bob Costa's "A liner off Nagy's glove into center field.......The Florida Marlins are WORLD SERIES CHAMPIONS!!! Renteria will always be one of my favorite players and I will never forget what he and the others in 97 did. That said the 03 team was magical. And that fact that they were a bunch of kids running around out there with Grandpa Jack at the helm made it even more special. I guess me only being 20 I could relate to the players because we were only a few years off in age in some cases. It was a magical season and playoffs that I will likely be telling the rest of my life. So my choice in 03 but barley only because of me being older and I could appreciate it more and for me being able to relate to the players better.
August 1, 200520 yr In case anyone would like to stroll down memory lane here is a link to some great World Series finishes. 97 and 03 Series Clips

August 1, 200520 yr Wow...decisions, decisions. I actually went to some '97 Series games (1 and 6) and was away from home in 2003, and for me personally the 2003 Series was a mixed bag because some crazy s*** happened to me the very night we won. That being said, I love the fact that the '03 team basically came out of nowhere. So they get my vote.
