Something is seriously wrong with Lowell, this is the worst power outage of his career. Only 3-4 HR's by the All-Star Break? Batting around .217? Not good.

June 30, 200520 yr I love Mike Lowell, but I agree, with what he is doing at the plate he cannot be batting 5th, he should still play due to his defense (we have suffered w/ AGO haven't we?), but definatly he needs to be moved to the back of the order. Lo Duca definatly needs to be in the 5th spot.

June 30, 200520 yr Lowell only has ONE more homerun than Castillo. That's all you need to know about Lowell. He should be hitting 8th or in the minors finding his swing. He's the highest paid player on the team and he's the worst starter on the team. It is a freakin' disgrace.

June 30, 200520 yr I opined days ago that Mike Lowell needs to be sat down, for an extended period of time, perhaps through the All-Star game to begin with. As unpalatable as that may be for Lowell, even he would agree that when a corner infielder is hitting .207 for the last week and .214 for the season, it's time for a change. Stranger things have happened but if it comes to pass don't expect it tonight, Jack wouldn't have Dunlop do it in his absense, that's not his syle but I do believe it's coming. With the AS game July 12th, a two week break for Lowell seems an appropriate timeframe to see if he revue the first half of the season, make adjustments and get untracked.
