running at every opportunity definetly gives this team a feeling of excitment that we can make things happen with our speed even when we sre striking out at the plate. you get the feeling that with solid starting pitching this is gonna be a fun year and are only going to get better with each passing week

So could darvish be the reason that the marlins publically state they have no interest at all in Fielder?? Kinda weird they wouldn't make any offer at all to Fielder isn't it?

how come nobody is taking into account that our infield defense should be better this year? This should help out guys like volstad who is a groundball pitcher. I'm not saying this will make our pitchers cy winners but it should help their numbers.....am i wrong in thinking this way?

Good time to be a marlins fan

I know some individuals on the boards are very knowledgeable in the area of ML contracts. I am doing a report on the current CBA for school and I have a few questions dealing with contracts and how they work. When a player is drafted out of high school, JUCO or Div I Institution he signs a minor league deal correct...so if this player (we will call him x) X, gets called up does he instantly sign a major league contract or does his minor league deal just carry over into the majors? On the flip side if "X" goes back down what happens to his minor league contract?? According to the CBA, the club has control of a player (X) for the first 6 years he is in the majors before player X can officially file for free agency, so if player X's contract is up before the initial 6 season he is in the big leagues what are his options? Is he forced to resign with his current club? The CBA also states that any player who has five years of service at the time of the assignment of his contract and whose contract was executed prior to October 23, 2006, may elect to require that his contract be assigned to another club. How does this "reassignment" of player X's contract work exactly. Any help would be greatly appreciated as the current CBA reads like a legal document and some of it is very unclear to me.

Actually, that sounds like a job for Accord. ACCORD Put yourself to use and make a montage that combines highlights from the players that we lost this offseason. Maybe like 30-40 seconds on each, with touching, tear-jerking music. I would pay to see something like that

Looks like we are going to have to count on Olsen, Vargas and Johnson to be effective. We better acquire a pitcher who can eat innings. Going to have to count on Hermida to have a big year as well Can we count on Willingham to play catcher or wtf are we going to do there? Shortstop Andino? Puke Who is going to close? Resop?? I'm at the point where I'm jealous of the Royals If Beckett leaves, I will not attend a Marlin's game this year. You can quote me. Im right with you on that one. SAVE BECKETT!!

WTF is this!!!!! This guy is my hero and I will be hard pressed to watch the Marlins if they trade him. They are giving up on the idea of staying in Florida if you ask me.

cleveland Indians....My whole family is from Cleveland and I still feel a little piece of my heart will always be with them. All my grandfather wanted to see was the Indians win the series once more before he passed. He went to the grave cussing Jose Mesa and Charles Nagy.

I will always love that 97 team. It was a magical season and and playoff run. And it was a series that truly went the distance. I will never forget Bob Costa's "A liner off Nagy's glove into center field.......The Florida Marlins are WORLD SERIES CHAMPIONS!!! Renteria will always be one of my favorite players and I will never forget what he and the others in 97 did. That said the 03 team was magical. And that fact that they were a bunch of kids running around out there with Grandpa Jack at the helm made it even more special. I guess me only being 20 I could relate to the players because we were only a few years off in age in some cases. It was a magical season and playoffs that I will likely be telling the rest of my life. So my choice in 03 but barley only because of me being older and I could appreciate it more and for me being able to relate to the players better.
