Who was your team in PM times ?

Featured Replies

Who did you root before the Marlins came and blessed all of baseball fans in South Florida ? Me, I was a New York Mets fan ! :banghead :banghead :banghead

I can't even imagine rooting for any New York team today, but I rooted for them because they used to play the games on tv and radio all the time down here in South Florida. Howard Johnson was my favorite baseball player and I still remember all of those pre 1991 teams down in Flushing. Of course, I despise the Mets now !

Baltimore Orioles

My dad grew up an O's fan I became an O's fan. We use to go to Baltimore or another city where the O's were playing once a year. Those were good times. Ever since the Marlins came Ive been nothing but a Marlins fan.

In the early-mid 90's when I was growing up in Buffalo, my favorite team was the White Sox because Frank Thomas was my favorite player. I don't really follow them anymore though, but I still like and root for them.

I was a huge Phillies fan. I remember the 1993 World Series pretty well still, and I can recall where I was during certain parts of certain games. Jim Fregosi and Mitch Williams took about a year off of my life, those bastards.

It wasn't until after the 1994 strike that I made the jump to the Marlins. If not for that strike, there's a chance I'd still be a Phillies fan today. So, in retrospect, I guess the strike was a good thing.

Atlanta Braves and Detroit Tigers. I grew up in the panhandle of Florida and was born in Detroit. I still have many relatives in the Detroit area, so yeah I'm still a closet Tigers fan.

I was a massive New York Mets fan since I was born and raised in New Jersey. I can remember the 86 season being so damn magical. I cant remember a year I was more into baseball then that one. I gotta agree with The Godfather that Howard Johnson was right up there as one of my fav players along with Lenny Dykstra and Mookie Wilson. I can remember the craze of the Teufel shuffle at home plate. Jesse Orosco and Roger McDowell the double headed save monster. The lets go Mets bobbleheads with the Lets Go Mets video tape.

Good times but I've been a fish fan since I moved to FLA in 92

I wouldn't say 'fan..' but the braves were the only ones regulaarly on TV, so i watched the Braves...

Needless to say, season tickets in 93' Die hard fish fan.

The Red Sox for over forty years but when I moved here in late, late '92 I adopted the fledgling Marlins and never looked back.

What he said.

i wasnt really a big fan

but my grandfather has always watched the braves and cubs on tv so i would watch those games with him

didnt start watching baseball until the marlins came around. my grandpa had me all excited about them a couple of months before the '93 opener. i was 9.

Minnesota Twins....I became obsessed with them when I learned their fight song.

Yankees.....Don Mattingly was the first player I remember watching as a kid and I was a fan until the Marlins came around and then once he retired, I haven't really followed them as a fan since. I'm probably the only person who was a Yankees fan for 10-12 years and never saw them even win a playoff series....

BoSox. I still am a BoSox fan but the Marlins are my primary team.

I'm guessing you mean that you were a BoSox fan even when the Fish were around? Because I doubt you were watching baseball at the age of 4 :D

Sorry, you were actually 3 1/2 in the Marlin's inaugural season...

Come on-I know you are a freaking awesome hurricane tracker, but you weren't a baseball fan at that age...

NO BEINY, NO!

My teams before the Marlins were the Reds and Red Sox. One in each league and it didn't matter until the 1975 World Series, either way I was a winner but found myself rooting for my favorite players team a little more that Pete Rose and the Big Red Machine. The Red Sox held spring training in Winter Haven where I grew up back in those days and I got to know several of their players. It helped that the Sox moved ST in 1993 and the fish came in the league that year to make me a fan of theirs. Sox are still my AL team.
