Who was your team in PM times ?

Featured Replies

Minnesota Twins....

I don't follow the team much at all anymore....but I consider myself very fortunate, to have followed, 4 World Series Champions (1987 & 1991=Twins; 1997 & 2003 = Marlins). 3 of the Series went 7 games, the other went 6 games.

Of course both franchises had plenty of "lean" years also....and both franchises are having problems getting ballparks.....

Atlanta Braves until 1996. When Al Leiter threw a no-no on my 10th birthday, I was hooked.

BoSox. I still am a BoSox fan but the Marlins are my primary team.

I'm guessing you mean that you were a BoSox fan even when the Fish were around? Because I doubt you were watching baseball at the age of 4 :D I was, actually. :)

Sorry, you were actually 3 1/2 in the Marlin's inaugural season...

Come on-I know you are a freaking awesome hurricane tracker, but you weren't a baseball fan at that age...

NO BEINY, NO! :(

I have been watching baseball since I was 3. Always been hooked on it, much like hockey.

Not really anyone, I mean I was only 8 when the Marlins first came about and honestly I don't remember anything before my 12th birthday

Nobody. The Marlins got me into sports.

My grandfather became a Cardinals fan because according to him Cardinals had more cuban baseball players than anybody else in the majors. So since then, my whole family has been a cards fan. Some of us are still cards fan but the rest(like me) are loyal to the Marlins!

Until the Marlins started, I was a Mets fan with the Blue Jays as my #2... to this day the Jays remain my #2

And Mets #1

1..... White Sox... (Frank Thomas is my IDOL)

2..... Oakland (Steinbach and Bash Brothers)

3..... Reds (Chris Sabo and Eric Davis were the sh*t...)

Spending my sports team choosing years in NYC, I rooted for all of the NYC-NJ area teams, no matter the sport, as long as they had a "NY" or a "NJ" on their uniform. I wanted to see my town win as many championships as possible. In baseball, I rooted for both the Mets and the Yankees in the early 80's but had a softer heart for the Mets.

Moved to South Florida in 1986, started to root for the Dolphins and stayed attached to each of the NYC teams until each of the South Florida expansion teams started and then rooted for both. Over the past 20 years weaned more and more off the NYC teams but have no issues with them and root for them come playoff time if no South Florida team is involved. As was the case when I was younger, I want my town (South Florida) win as many championships as possible.

So long and short of it, Mets and Yankees.

No one but the Marlins. :D

I had just gotten into baseball and it was a perfect time since it was the inaugural year for both the Rockies and Marlins. And since I hate everything about NY/NJ sports, lets say I made the right choice. :thumbup

I dont like to say it, but before I became a marlins fan, I was a braves fan, however, I only watched the braves on Tv (TBS) and was only a fan of them for two years, 1992 and 1993. Before that, I wasn't even watching baseball. Even though I did not like the cubs, I liked watching them on Tv (WGN) in the afternoon, remember Steve stone and skip carry, and harry carry.

Who did you root before the Marlins came and blessed all of baseball fans in South Florida ? Me, I was a New York Mets fan ! :banghead :banghead :banghead

I can't even imagine rooting for any New York team today, but I rooted for them because they used to play the games on tv and radio all the time down here in South Florida. Howard Johnson was my favorite baseball player and I still remember all of those pre 1991 teams down in Flushing. Of course, I despise the Mets now !

Same, but I was a Mets fan because I hated the Yankees, if you want to know why I hate them, this statement should clear things up:

"everyone likes them so you should too since your from NJ" - Basically every person from NJ

Sorry guys. I wasn't in this country before 1994. I rooted for Industriales then, which can be considered your Cuban version of the Braves. They would win a lot of games during the regular season and turn "yellow" right at the end.

And also the Yankees. My grandfather used to tell me stories about the Yankees before 1959. Imagine that! When I first went to a Marlins game was because Osvaldo Fernandez (a Cuban pitcher who defected around the same time I left) was pitching for the Giants against the Marlins. That was a 1996. The Giants ended up winning that game and I ended up infatuated with the Marlins ("those losers" I used to call them and still do sometimes). Then 1997 happened and I was hooked!

That's it!

I used to love the Oakland A's...Ricky Henderson! :thumbup

I also loved Jose Canseco!

They had such a great team: Canseco, McGwire, both Hendersons, Steinbach, Weiss, Lansford, Welch, Stewart, Moore, Honetcutt, Nelson, Eck

BoSox. I still am a BoSox fan but the Marlins are my primary team.
