He started this year off extremely fast, but has slowed down a bit. I believe his average is in the .280s in AAA. Should be fun to watch, but keep in mind, he's still just 20 years old, if I'm not mistaken.

Hughes is better than all of them, in my opinion. Just look at their numbers, ages, and stuff closer. Bailey would be the best of the crop if he ever learned how to harness his stuff, but that has yet to happen. Of course, analyzing prospects is quite possibly the hardest thing to do in baseball, however, Hughes at the very worst is a top 5 pitcher in the minor leagues.

Jose Tabata is now 17, and playing in A-ball. Hitting .338/391/519. He actually shows great power potential, especially for a guy who really stands to put on some muscle. He's a legit 5 tool prospect. Like I said, the kid is an ELITE prospect. The best player at his age. If I'm the Yankees, I would have to get a king's ransom to trade Phil Hughes or Jose Tabata.

Phil Hughes is the second best pitching prospect in baseball. Jose Tabata is the best player in the minors at his age. Melky Cabrera is hitting .310 in the majors. The Yankee system is very top heavy. They have two of the elite prospects in the game (Hughes, Tabata) and not much after that (other than Brett Gardner, Austin Jackson, Steven White, J. Brent Cox, CJ Henry, Kevin Thompson). That is all.

How is Yankee Stadium in a bad location exactly? Because its in the Bronx? If you don't feel safe in the Bronx, you don't feel safe anywhere.

I will unquestionably see Superman Returns in IMAX 3D (and read the novelization), probably the day of its release. But the hype level, for me, is quite low for such a blockbuster film. I think I'm tempering my own feelings, knowing that it probably will not reach my unreasonably high expectations following Batman Begins. The 1st trailer really turned me off, as well.

Where in the hell in that cliff notes does it say you tried to change his opinion? You used IMDB's top 250 to prove why VfV was a good movie and better then Da Vinci. I called you out on that. You kept dodging all of my points and saying you aren't changing his opinion. I KNOW. You do try to back up your own opinion with other's opinions to try and prove that movie is better then another. Which is impossible to do. You went down sarcasm streeet and I did a U-turn and went down the same way. First off, let me say that I found V For Vendetta to be an absolutely beautiful movie, even if it was shot digitally. I also genuinely enjoyed it except for a few quibbles, which, conveniently, you have listed as quibbles about The DaVinci Code. I'd say that V was about as laughably overdramatic as any movie I've seen in a long time, perhaps since the intentionally hammy Starship Troopers. I'm not saying they're the same caliber of movie, but I just drew a slight comparison. In V for Vendetta, the whole story about the lesbian actress that was just so ridiculously overdramatic and overraught, I had to shake my head constantly and say, "Oh, ok, I get the message, you don't like the current geopolitical climate." From the lines about the War in Iraq, to the banishment of gay marriage, to the criminalization of homosexuality and Islam, I could only think of overdramatic. The whole thing with the "I'm writing this to you, because I love you even if you don't know me" I was just completely rolling my eyes. The whole thing reaked of that typical Oscar-bait crap that just makes me want to move on. Everything about the scene/subplot was trite: Cute/rebellious lesbian whose parents don't accept her? Check. Finds the love of her life and becomes successful and happy? Check. That love is destroyed by the hateful government? Check. Girl eventually killed only to "live on" in someone's memory? Check. We've seen it a million times and we'll probably see it a million more times. It was not in the least moving because it tried so hard to be moving. It was so freaking cut and dry that I just wanted to puke. That scene really needed to be re-written and not with so much ridiculous banter about politics, have a bit more subtlty politically and emotionally, and it probably works a lot better. Also, Natalie Portman's English accent is right up there with Dick Van Dyke's or Don Cheadle's. I felt like I was watching the Prequel Trilogy at times, that's how bad it was. Fair points. I'm not about to say the movie isn't without a few flaws. That scene, upon further viewing, could be seen as overly dramatic. I agree. But by that point in the story, the characters had connected to me so well, that I was willing to overlook that fact and be genuinely touched by the story. We obviously didn't feel the same way, which is perfectly fine. The Da Vinci Code however, getting back on topic, was FILLED with overdramatizing to a nauseating point. I felt little to no connection to Langdon, perhaps because he didn't seem (a writing flaw) very human, which obviously made the weight of his lines NOT dramatic, but laughable. I felt the audience to character connection was simply non-existent, it gave you no degree of plausibility. So almost every "dramatic" line uttered by the characters was more of an "Ugh" moment for me. I felt no emotional connection for the movie, so every moment of "drama" had the strong illusion of overdramatization. Since you don't seem to understand any of my posts, or the whole damn point of Fritz's post...I'll break it down: Fritz: I didn't like VfV for the same reasons you didn't like the Da Vinci Code, even though you like VfV Bryan: Oh, Shnap! You are mistaken...IMDB has VfV in the top 250. Rotten Tomatoes gave it a better rating than Da Vinci. Passion: Yeah, IMDB isn't a good way to guage movies to me. They aren't statistical facts, they are numbers of other people's opinions. Opinions never equal facts. Remember those worksheets in like 4th grade when you had to distinguish between an opinion statement and fact statements? Wow, you totally didn't get my point. I said I personally can't take a list seriously that lists the LOTR and Star Wars movies as high as they did. That had nothing to do with you saying that I think that only box office hits do well. Which I didn't say that in my post. I did say that I think more current and movies with a fan base do get slanted towards the top. You of course are going to think this movie was really good because you read the graphic novel. You were looking forward to this for a while. It's understandable. I read the Sin City series and Sin City is in my top 10 movies ever. Is Sin City considered a top 10 movie by the masses? Probably not and I'm skewed towards it being great because I loved the graphic novel and I loved the film adaptation, just like you with VfV. I don't know why you are going so crazy to try to prove to someone else, with different tastes, why a movie was good and to use other people's opinions to try to prove it as well. You liked it alot, Fritz apparently didn't, and that shouldn't really matter to you. I merely posted my thoughts on DVC. Fritz brought Vendetta into it. Estimates have Da Vinci at $77 million for the weekend. That's more than V for Vendetta made in its entire run. People can't talk about a movie that they didn't see. I dunno... Fight Club wasn't a smashing success. Big Lebowski isn't even close to any box office record. Both are cult classics. Both were better movies than VfV. Fritz's original point was for the reasons Bryan listed he didn't like Da Vinci, are what he felt was what was wrong with VfV. No one will ever convince me that the Top 250 is a reasonable or legitimate way to guage or convince someone how good a movie was. Look at the list of the worst movies, it is flooded with current movies....movies that more people have seen and more recently. I never saw it but there is no way in hell 'Annapolis' is worse then some of the B movies from the 80s and 70s. Not as many of those are on, compared to the more recent. The larger the fan base (Star Wars and LOTR) the more votes it gets. Period. I can't take a list seriously that has a LOTR film (which I loved) above Schindler's List. Or one that gives Revenge of the Sith even a place on that list. You are saying the list is a joke because larger films with bigger fan bases are being ranked higher, when V for Vendetta is the opposite. It doesn't have a big fan base at all, it was based on a single graphic novel written in the 1980's, that while well known in comic circles, is far from a national phenomenom such as Star Wars or LOTR. Its box office didn't even clear 70 million, so where are all these "fan boys" coming from that are packing it with 10's? Films with larger fan bases are going to get preferential treatment on a list created by fan voting, but how does that pertain to V for Vendetta? Again, its box office didn't even break 70 million. Where is this imaginary group of fan boys coming from? Is it the same 10 people voting over and over again? VfV has received 40 thousand votes on IMDB, LOTR received almost 200 thousand votes. How did Lawrence of Arabia, Vertigo and North by Northwest get ranked so highly if it was entirely based on the previous fan base of a film? If that was the case wouldn't DVC be ranked higher than VfV seeing as it made more in 1 weekend than VfV did in its entire run? Yeah, it's not a good judge of quality. I was just agreeing with Passion. No one's going to talk about V for Vendetta in 10 years. I wouldn't say no one, as V for Vendetta has a cult following, but yes, I agree. That was a mis-step on my part. DVC is a bigger film, viewership-wise, and will undoubtedly be running over and over again on cable and satellite systems. So it probably will be more remembered, however it doesnt speak to either film's quality (See M:I:2 and Fight Club).

IMDB's top 250 list is not an accurate gauge of great movies. It's too biased towards newer movies and all it is is the ammount of people who voted '10' for it as opposed to '1'. People will be talking about the Da Vinci Code good or bad far more then VfV in 10 years. Book it. Your second part is reasonable. Your first part is slightly inaccurate however. The IMDB scoring system is weighted, so that the people who vote most often and most fairly have a higher strength within the polls than Joe Schmo who has voted on 2 movies and given them both 10s. 8's and 9's from regular users count towards the top 250, while 10's from the fanboys are nullified. Is it perfect? Certainly not, but it's not to be ignored entirely either. So yes, it is an accurated gauge as to how people generally feel towards a given film. You can find this all on their page somewhere. It is biased to newer movies, however, that is agreeable. VfV has the highest user rating of the year according to rottentomatoes at 90%, DVC has a user rating of 74%. V for Vendetta is a film that people will remember in 10 years, the Da Vinci Code is far from memorable in any respect. V for Vendetta received a 75% approval rating from critics, The Da Vinci Code struggled to get to 18%. See the difference? I'm sorry you didn't like V for Vendetta, the great majority did (as displayed by the stats above), but there is absolutely no reason to bring that ludicrous comparison into this thread.

What a horrid game. Unbelievably sloppy. Mussina and Pedro dominated. In fact, both staffs dominated (Pedro, Moose, Sanchez, Proctor, Rivera), except Billy Wagner. Great AB for Melky Cabrera in the 9th, hard to believe he's 21.

No worries, this will just make a move for Barry Zito a sure thing to happen for New York, don't be surprised if they give Oakland a package involving Robinson Cano. A PACKAGE including Robinson Cano? Are you kidding me? I'm not sure I would trade Cano for Zito straight up. Kids a stud, theres no need to get a notoriously inconsistent lefty who has fairly mediocre stuff. He's pitched well this season, but the Yankees wouldn't take a position of strength for the next 12 years in 2B and make it a position of severe weakness for the next 5 years, just so they can get a solid number 3 starter. Not going to happen. Cano is a future batting champion.
